From the trackside to the forest . . .

We can always count on Nando Korobase to capture the moment with the most feminine details in the exquisite designs from Angel Dessous. I have mentioned the exciting Black Box event here before.  But, for a reminder, each Wednesday Angel Dessous offers a surprise “Black Box” for a mere $69L. One never knows what will be inside; either a fresh new dress or a set of Angel’s divine lingerie. I unwrapped this Sonata dress from a recent Black Box and was delighted to find it matched one of my new hats – the Lady Maia – from Hatpins.
I am excited for the chance to look fabulous among those watching the 137th running of the Preakness this weekend. I am glad i waited to wear the Sonata this weekend, it might have been a bit scandalous if i had worn it Derby Day to Churchill Downs, i think it will fit in well with the beltway crowd and Baltimore society. I am delighted that it is a wonderful outfit to showcase the delicate shades of the latest release from Hush skins! Oh, and lest i forget, Fay’s Shoes Krystal shoes are just the perfect finishing touch!

Retro is back . . . hmmm is that redundant?

It seems that recently some of our favorite designers have been picking up inspiration from past decades. We even saw a great new sim, Spyderville, spring up with a completely fifties theme. That’s where we found these groovy Barbie boxes. Sadly, it is disappearing almost as quickly as it rezzed. But the timeless styles of the era continue. Neferia Abel continues to amaze us with her fastidious study of vintage era fashions, and her finely crafted vintage dresses. Sequoia is wearing one of her favorites, the Katinka, a recent addition to the Ivalde Fifties Collection. Kym is showing a brand new offering, the ChaCha dress, from PurpleMoon’s Vintage collection. With all crinolines and florals these designs capture the fashion spirit of the 1950′s, but can also be perfectly compatible with a trendy summer party today.We also continue to be very impressed with the expanding line of Hush Skins. Each new release is a delightful surprise!

Raves for Meiling

Let’s start from the top with a topper! Couture Chapeau has been making hats in SL for a a very long time and we have featured wide selection of CC hats including the one Sequoia is keeping the sun at bay with, the La Loren Firenze Chapeau. What many don’t realize is that there are very strong ties in both RL and SL between Couture Chapeau and the Meiling Couture brand. It was at the invitation of CC owner and designer, Chigadee London, which brought Meiling to Second Life and with Chigadee’s and her partner Balthazar Fouroux’s perseverance Meiling has continued to astonish, enjoying rave reviews for the Second Life interpretations of her real world hit collection, Grand Riviere. Sequoia is wearing the centerpiece of this collection – the Sea Foam Gown. Tosy Xue’s wonderful bracelet & nail sets, MagnaMater in gold, and the Memorial Love Pearl necklace & earring set, both from WTG offer a splendid adornment to this stunning outfit.



The Sea Foam gown is soft and delightfully feminine, the colour and fabric textures enhance the stunning cut of this cool summer dream. The deep cut ruffled top features a nearly bare back, perfect for those sultry summer beach soires. Elegantly matched with a softly flowing full white linen skirt the Sea Foam gown is both airy and seductive.



The Innocence gown was dedicated to the winner of the June Meiling Styling Award – Tyra Eiren. Delicate lace, tucks and ruffles remind one of the genteel days of afternoon teas and strolls along the boardwalk or in this case “birdwalk”. KymSara was found warbling “these are a few of my favorite things” as she danced among the scattering of heron in this very special gown.



Kym also gives a peek at the delicate Mt Plasir, from the most recent Meiling collection, a pure a delight to wear and the perfect choice for summer evening cocktails and dancing under chandeliers or stars. The modest neckline, ruffled sleeves and flowing knee length skirt offer the perfect elegance and gracefulness for the sophisticated taste.



A very joyful Kym had such a fun time styling options with the Cotton Hill tank top and skirt. Initially she found it to be a fantastic casual outfit, just right for a lunch date or a day of shopping. She was delighted to discover that a few simple additions of a favorite Contessa hat from Couture Chapeau, the new Spiral Bracelet from Finesmith and her bright Sydney heels from SLink made this casual cotton confection an easily dressed up bit of brilliance. It is easy to see why this new brand is doing so well in SL.

The Vintage Advantage

Neferia Abel, designer of Ivalde Vintage Fashion and L`Abel has such incredible designs inspired by her personal research of fashion photography, magazines & films, patterns and fabrics from nearly every fashion era since the birth of Haute Couture. There has been a flow exquisite pieces from several historic periods in fashion history since the Ivalde sim was rebuilt to reflect the comfortable surroundings of her native Norway, and we are delighted to share some of these fabulous designs with you. Let us take you now on a journey from Disco to Go-Go.



First up on our itinerary Sequoia is wearing a lovely silk dress that is already destined to become a season favorite for 2011. The Dolly dress is inspired by the shimmery glam disco dresses of the eighties with a timeless attractiveness that will keep it in the spotlight well into the future. This figure hugging gown communicates a sexy sublime elegance, with only the minimal need for further accessoriies.



The Toril Pantsuit from the 70 decade, is a unique period design that can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood and the occasion. Sequoia has chosen a more alluringly sophisticated approach, coming in hot, hot, hot coiffed in her fiery copper Maryam hair from CaTwA and her scorching SEDUCTION XtremeHeel “Galaxy” sandal heels from N-Core.



One of Ivalde’s all-time favorite suits, the Joan, inspired by stlized office wear of the eighties, is back again with a fresh update.



KymSare looks thoroughly professional, and the Joan has just the look for that interview, or presentation or dinner with someone special. the cropped jacket , contrasting bow and matching wide waist band are indeed reminicent of the 80′s while presenting a sharp fashionable appearance for today’s professional woman.

Country Chic: Florals

The excitement continues at Ivalde and L`Abel as the word of the special new L`Abel Country Chic Summer Collection splashes on the fashion scene like a beautiful sun shower offering refreshment for the body and soul. Cool comfortable lace, ruffles and florals are the order of the day this summer fashion season. We have already highlighted a some of the lace frosted and hemmed confections of this collection, now let’s have a look at two of the delightful florals.



Seq predictably grabbed the Summer Pantsuit in seagreen floral print and is stunning and at ease in the knee length loose-fitting pants and layered strapless top. The picture hardly does justice to any of the Country Chic Collection you must see the impeccable detail to really appreciate ! Tosy Xue really seems to be on a roll creatively as his nails most often are the manicure of choice, this time Seq is wearing the Magna Mater in platinum from WTG. Ever alert to spot a special exquisitely made jewelry design, Sequoia also discovered a wonderful bracelet called Friendo at The Hive when she was buzzing the grid. Of course she bought the necklace too but will save that for another time

As you may have already guessed, when it comes to florals Kym would seek the sweetest and loveliest flowing full skirted dress. Savanna features all the summery hues of pink, purple and blue that are certain to capture the attention of the entire garden grid. Cool comfort is a bonus feature of this lovely dress. It moves with the softest summer breezes to reveal the delicate Belgian lace underskirt. This, of course, was the perfect excuse for Kym to run to Hatpins for a new summer hat to match! (as if she really needs an excuse!) Reghan Straaf always has a super selection of vintage inspired hats which work beautifully with actual period dresses or as a special finishing touch to todays most modern ensembles. It was a challenge to decide, but the Lady Zarah seemed a perfect choice for a midnite stroll in the meadow.

MEILING Crosses the Line Part II

Title get you attention? We all have curiosity and i assure you that only good will come from crossing this line. If you missed the first post let me explain….



Meiling is an award winning Caribbean fashion designer with an exquisite eye for detail in real world design who has crossed over to Second Life fashion. A minimalist, her aesthetic sensibility demands clean lines which celebrate the beauty of form in a artful and functional way. How wonderful it is then she is bringing many of her creations in natural fabrics and linens to be recreated in our virtual world. Each of these designs of her SL collection is based upon her RL collections. They are not only a comfort to wear and but also a comfort to be seen in. We are thrilled to be able to help showcase the fabulous talent of MEILING.




KymSara is wearing yards of an incredibly vibrant linen tapestry print which MEILING used to create her Vetiver dress , a midi-length full-skirted number, perfect for a casual dinner out or more formal evening event. The plain flared skirt is shown here, but Meiling includes an optional skirt with green rose embellishments to match the optional collar piece also being worn.

Sequoia wears Bombay Dreams, a charming reflection of the climate of Meiling’s tropical island RL home of Trinidad. Light, breezy and oh so comfy, this unique little ensemble will have you turning heads at your favorite beach gathering. A chiffon cutaway jacket reveals a very colorful silk tasseled Indian scarf halter top.



The clean lines of mid-thigh black shorts are continued beneath to add a perfect blend and balance. Add your favorite bangles, such as the Japanese Lacquered bangles seen here from Aurora Borealis Jewelry and your most comfortable espadrilles or sandals and you will be set for an afternoon and evening warm weather rendezvous. As we explored her collection more it became quite evident that Meiling is very thoughtful in her creation of dresses and outfits which wear very well in the most basic of configurations – reflecting her RL reputation as a leading minimalist designer. She has also carefully considered options and embellishments which will add a bit of decoration while not overpowering the crisp lines of her basic designs. We are very confident that we will be seeing a lot of her work around the fashionable venues of SL.

Elegant Ensembles Part I

I hardly know where to begin. Sascha Designs new Zephra ensemble is full of so many elegant options it boggles the mind! Sascha Frangelli has just released two sets of a phenomenal dress, in black and white versions, named Zephra. A name from a bygone era of refined privilege, these collections offer so many exciting choices and variations to help you style for any occasion this fashion season and into future! Also featured, the new release from tosy Xue of WTG.



To give you a sense of the possibilities even one dress ensemble can offer is too much to submit in just one blog post. Therefore, we will split into two parts beginning with the cocktail variation, which was the last look i assembled, but is a very good place to start. Brought together are the cocktail skirt, one of over 5 skirt options, the sweetheart backless top and the wonderfully constructed bolero, shown with the choker version of J.D-2 jewel set from WTG.

tosy Xue’s newly released J.D-2 ensemble is a perfect counterpoint to the Zephra, with nearly as many options including choker and necklace styles which can be attached to either spine or chest to enable you to work easily with all the clothing attachments as well as beautiful bracelets for either or both arms, and the most finely detailed earpieces i have seen lately!



Next is the long strapless variation i felt was just the sort of simple elegant formal that fits in so many occasions. This time i introduce the J.D-2 full length necklace from WTG. See what wonderful lines this gown has from every side. The back cutaway is curved to the waist and ultra sexy. The possibilities of accessories is endless, i love how the J.D-2 bracelet looks against the soft full length gloves. Stay tuned for a third variation tomorrow

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Umber

You may have noticed we took a short break to catch our breath after the Fashion For Life. We spent our entire effort for the almost two weeks showcasing items where 100% of the proceeds went to the Relay for Life. We find it such a worthy effort and were glad to have shared in it.

As a result of our devotion, we are running to catch up with Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge. Thankfully, on a trip to see the perfectly wonderful floral dresses designed by pixivor Allen, i spotted just the right gown to complete our UMBER week challenge! When my eyes fell upon the Lady Chocolat gown i knew i had found a dress that did not just meet the color criteria, but one that rates very high marks as a fave for the season. Miss Allen brings life to the dark brown shade of Umber with the addition of a colorful dotted pattern in the bodice and a brilliant flash of bright orange for the sash, which trails off beautifully, to provide additional contrast the whole length of the flowing skirt. It should also be stated, that in keeping with pixivor’s sensibility and exquisite spot on detail, she finished the bodice with an edging of that same flaming orange. Sheer perfection!



Finding just the perfect jewels to match this AlaFolie gem was a challenge all its own. Julia Merosi, of ::je::suis::, had the answer to that puzzle in her tente sunset set. I bought up the necklace, earrings and bracelets all sold separately to complete this amazing look.
