Fashion For Life – 55L Friday – PurpleMoon

Poulet Koenkamp of PurpleMoon is offering up one of the most astounding dresses for only 55 lindens during the special event 55L Friday Sale running at Fashion for Life. Fashion For Life – 55L Friday and more!

Special event running at Fashion for Life today only, Friday March 16th, is the 55L Friday Sale. Many designers have discounted many of their items to only 55L. Some like Schön have made an exclusive item to sell for just today!!! The “Sei” [White] Kimono gown is just that, only 55L! and exclusive! This is an amazing kimono to reduce to such a ridiculously low price. As a designer i do understand though, we want to offer our best to get you to come see all the wonderful things we have made especially as donations to Relay for Life, so come see and grab some bargains while helping the American Cancer Society find the cure.

This entire post features skins by Hush, so i must complement them on their Paige and Amy skins available at FFL. Worn with the kimono in the first picture you see the sweetness of the Sugar skin shade. This ensemble in teal by Schoen called Klita is both edgy and feminine and emphasized nicely by the tone of the cream set off with the striking pink lips of the Hush skin. Vanity Hair has done some special hair for FFL and always specially cutting edge. When i put this outfit together with the lace jacket and saw this hair with the teal highlights i thought “why not!” I love how the braid curves around the neck and the flourish of the pompadour of the Nightingale in Jet black definitely sends a message that you are going to “sing” when you go out on the town and into the nightlife. The MEB ensemble is interesting too with the big silver buttons across the breast give a urban appeal and the lace jacket keeps it feminine.

Finally i finish with the steaming hot cocoa skin tone from Hush also available at the FFL. Appropriate skin to wear with a dress named Aphrodite from SYSY’s. Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and it was a pleasure to be able to add the items from Ecletica to this look. The Little Black Pillbox set includes the veiled hat that is menu driven to allow feathers and pearl accents. The gloves are textured so wonderfully and were a perfect match to SYSY’s Aphrodite dress. We all know what a difficult thing it is to match up hair for hats, but Tabata of Vanity hair has made this wonderful hair named Romance for FFL that works so well to fit this outfit!

Fashion for Life – Part 1

‘Fashion for Life’ is the longest running and most successful fashion fair in Second Life ™ and marks the annual start of the official ‘Relay for Life’ events that take place inworld each year. All donations are given directly to the ‘Relay for Life’ general fund which benefits the ‘American Cancer Society’ and its thousands of beneficiaries who rely on the charity for support and advice. Over 200 designers and creators have come together for this event with all organisation, building work and coordination driven by the work of volunteers  to maximize the donated money.

We can’t begin to cover all of the  work of this dedicated team but, we can share some highlights which we have found particularly attractive and encourage you to join these creators making this the most successful charity event is SL history.



Miamai is offering an amazing selection of lovely designs for this year’s event. Kym is wearing the Loue Dress in red, one of the many dazzling colors available. The match-dyed peacock feathers add a special touch to the softly feminine lines of this vintage inspired gown. In this thoroughly FFL look she is also showing the lovely Paige Cherry Blossom Skin in the Honey shade, new from Hush Skins just for this event. Hush includes some wonderful lashes with their skin package. And check out the closeup for one of the It’s Time Earring sets offered as Gatcha by Aurora Borealis.

Next we have Kym, All Squared Away  in one of the outfits offered by Fantavatar & Moonstruck, a brand which has been focused on fantasy and theme roleplay clothes and props since 2008. With a stretch into a more modern and playful look especially for FFL their line is expanding to include more hair and shoes as well as furniture. Note also another lovely skin option from Hush; the Amy Sultry Sage in Cream shade, and another of Aurora Borealis’ It’s Time Gatcha Earring sets.

And of course we expected SL’s latest fashion event to include lots of new mesh designs. ArisAris steps up to that challenge with their Chocolate Balloon Dress, a finely detailed knit which comes in all sizes. The strappy Virginia Tan  heels are also from ArisAris and, I couldn’t resist the Amy Tangerine Kiss skin from Hush in a most appropriate Cocoa Shade

Fashion For Life: Sascha’s Designs

Today is a special day for Kym and i, we have reached a milestone of exactly 100 blog posts in Notions of Style! We are glad this auspicious occasion occurred on the last day of a truly wonderful event, Fashion For Life. Tonight during the last few hours we are strolling and seeing what else we might pick up to help bring us closer to that $5 Million linden goal for Relay For Life. Oh so close $4,567,401 at this posting!!!



We chose Sascha’s Designs for our 100th and as our last blog post for FFL because it allowed us the opportunity style together for our special milestone. We begin by sharing a picture of ourselves wearing Beerel Black and White dresses, [Kym in White & Seq in Black], which truly illustrate well the theme of this years Fashion For Life “Beyond Black & White”. Our time together as bloggers and sisters has colored our lifes in immeasurable ways. We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the incredible outfits presented by a few of our favorite designers who participated, so generously, in the Fashion For Life event. We have a lot of other favorites, but time did not permit us to include them all. We hope you have also found some favorites and discovered some new designers during this incredible event and that you will run back today for a quick final look before it is all over for 2011.



One of our favorites of the entire event is the Arrogance gown collection. Elegant, romantic, dramatic, sensuous and more! Sascha has taken the most luxurious black silk and created a dream gown series with so many delightful options that we could only begin to explore them here! Also lest you be confused by the switch of hair colors on your Notion’s friends, for the Arrogance, Sequoia is in red hair and KymSara in blond.



The SAS Arrogance gown can be worn in long formal style witth a slim or full skirt adorned with intricate bead and sequin patterns. I have chosen the full version here and selected the full sleeveless top option. Seq picked the cocktail version and paired it with the daring lace cutout top and the Extravaganza Shawl, for a completely different look. The ensemble includes several top and skirt variations which are equally alluring and will provide you with a myriad of fantastic looks throughout the coming season. And 100% of the proceeds go to Relay For Life!!!

We just could not resist including a very special new release from tosy Xue, designer of WTG jewelry, in this our final FFL blog because it was so conspicuously perfect. While not a part of this years’ event his Blessings Series works so very well with the SAS gown that we wanted to share it with you. You will be seeing more about this creative jeweler here soon.

Fashion For Life: Schön & Fab Pony

The Fashion For Life is beginning to wind down but there is time to gather a variety of gorgeous and cute selections of the over 700 outfits and accessories available with 100% proceeds going to the Relay for Life!!! Today i am jumping in with three really different outfits with everything from classic elegance to comfy casual. First from Schoen (Schön) by Saya Littlething (沙耶) comes, the Ibiza Moon / Lover’s Night gown, a lovely romantic creation with a bit of a surprise…..



….the demure tiers of black edged sheer violet cut away to a daring full-length reveal on the left side! Definitely a design which will have you exploring both sides of your inner fashioniosta!



Next is the sassy little Rira dress , also from Schoen (Schön), which comes with a contrasting mini-cape and matching hat. The flared mini-length skirt and deep cut neckline make this little number reminiscent of ’70′s designs, and is sure to turn more than a few heads. I love the Silk Floral Booties from Duh! a super low price! and such a great match with this outfit.



Last i brought four designs from four separate stores into one look. This casual ensemble is great when you get back home to kick back after a busy day, or on your way to the track/gym relax. I slipped into the high waisted Chloe Jeans and Samantha tank top from Fab Pony and then i paired up with the Froh Hoodie jacket from Schoen (Schön) and the kicky little Floral Linen flats from Duh! I spiced it up a bit more with some funky Fab Pony Fantasy60 Earrings in black and Blonde-tipped Coal “Suzy” hairstyle from Amacci. You all know me as a true blonde, but how could i resist? The end result is something incredibly comfortable and cozy. While i have you thinking warm fuzzy thoughts let me remind you all of these items are donated to raise funds to support a cure for cancer, so don’t delay it all ends March 22nd

Fashion For Life: G. Sloane Couture

The rustle of fine silk, the allure of black lace, and the daring reveal of just so much decollette, are combined in artful measure by Geryn Sloane in the sumptuous design of her For the Cure Dress. There is even a light touch of whimsy in the details, including a violet bodice rose in this centerpiece of the the G. Sloane Couture (GSC) offering for the Fashion For Life. This is just one of the delightful discoveries i put on my list on my first stroll through the FFL sims. I have already enjoyed many raves and compliments while wearing it dancing and mingling with friends. There is no doubt in my mind that will happen for you as well…plus you get to help Fashion For Life come closer to their $5 Million Linden goal.

Fashion For Life: LeeZu

Among the many fine designers participating in FFL, LeeZu Baxter Designs FFL offerings are quite distinctive. LeeZu has put together an amazing and generous collection of dresses available in the donation vendors at her shop at FFL. If you are as impressed as i was, you may just find yourself with an whole new spring wardrobe before you leave LeeZu Baxter Designs shop in FFL.

My attentions was immediately drawn to the Catch Lily dress , a crisp black and white cocktail dress that is a must have! Perfect for the business lunch, afternoon garden parties or that cruise you have been planning for your spring vacation, this little number is just the right mix of sassy and suitable for many situations. FAB.PONY Legacy Black fantasy earrings play nicely off the futuristic collar and add a perfect complement.



Next to capture my attention was A Mon Insu Gown in black accented with violet roses in a spiral cascade down the skirt and boldly adorning an impressive matching hat. This French inspired gown will also capture the attention of the crowd at a formal event or perhaps a masquerade ball. I had occasion to wear once already and was delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response.



And last, LeeZu rises to the occasion with her fresh take on the LBD. The Lizz Flexi Dress in black is a very special dress which features a daring neckline plunge, a wide self-belt fastened with a bold geometric closure, and what seems like miles of sheer silk echoing the square geometics of the belt pattern in a assymetric skirt which floats responsively to your every move. The Lizz Flexi Dress is also available in soft grey. Taking full advantage of the dress design i added some of my Zelda Hanadama knotted pearls available at FFL from +AURORA BOREALIS+ ~seq

Fashion For Life: SYSY’s

SySy Chapman brings her variety of design skills to the FFL this year with two different approaches to seductive and sexy. First she thrills us with classic and simple lines of her Leiya Gown. The Leiya will softly accentuate the femininity of any who wear it, a trailing arm drapery adds a sensual flow and dream feel. A perfect choice for that next formal evening, Leiya is also available in soft rose.



In contrast, SySy’s short and sassy Hush dress is ready to rock. A must have to pair with your most impossible heels and long legs. The combination will put you firmly in the center of attention on the dance floor! In addition to the silver grey this lively number is also available in cherry.
