Spring Night in Paris

Kym was fascinated by the recent “Eternal Flames” exhibit of Milly Shaple’s work at the Paris Metro Gallery, and is wearing the M. Sharple gown designed by Rose RFB Morpork of Paris Metro Couture in honor of the artist and this special event. This is one of the unique gowns in the Paris Metro Couture Artist Seies. Shown here against the fading evening light you can see that it is as light as a soft spring breeze with a delightful richness of colour and elegance of line. Every gown, or design, in this series embodies some of the exhibiting artists’ work, with 50% of all sales sent directly to the Artist at the time of your purchase. These gowns enable Paris Metro Art Gallery to maintain and continue to bring great talent and events to Second Life. Enjoy all the amazing exhibits at the Paris Metro Gallery and be sure and visit the top floor of Paris Metro Couture, just across the boulevard for the enticing collection of  ”Artist Series”gowns. Continuing the theme of fine art, Kym selected a wonderful new piece from one of her favorite jewelry artists we showcase below.

Lady of the Manor

I would say its safe to say that tosy Xue is also one of Sequoia’s favorite jewelers too. This fabulous manor house styling of the J’Taime from Paris Metro Couture deserves the regal treatment and one could never go wrong with tosy’s most elegant “Fragrance” jewelry ensemble which Seq has chosen to adorn herself with.

Spring Night in Paris

Sometimes it is so difficult to pick from all of tosy’s incredible designs but KymSara has chosen well wearing the Dragon Fes necklace. Beautifully detailed it provides a perfect accent to her most beautiful gown.

Vintage A-wear-ness

Dinner on the Fjord

Thirties fashions have a special allure with even the day dresses drawing the line, detail and embellishment we might expect for more formal attire. Neferia Abel’s “Kahrine” — her latest 1930 inspired dress, reflects that refined styling of the era so very well with the tailored bodice tucks, box pleated skirt and detailed embroidery.

Could it be . . . Sandra Dee?

The “Nora” Dress, the newest addition to Ivalde’s extensive 1950′s Collection is already a hit among our Vintage Fashionistas, and may just prove to be even more popular than the recently retired “Sandy” poodle skirt. It’s all about lace and gathered chiffon and I knew right away that the violet pink color would be my personal favorite. I couldn’t help humming a few tunes from “Grease” as I matched up my kymmie shoes from Lindy in anticipation of a fun fifties evening at Runaround Sue’s.

Thrills and Twill from Trill

Ol' cotton fields back home . . .

Every visit to Trill Zapetero’s two shops; Boho Hobo and Meena, reveals some wonderfully fresh design, all finely executed. Here is a set of three outfits assembled from these shops which reflect Trill’s diverse spectrum of items for your SL wardrobe. While exploring the new layout of the Boho Hobe shop i found this soft plaid Rudy Fehr flannel shirt – definitely not my typical look :) but it is so well done and comfortable that i could not resist. The jeans are also from Boho’s most complete selection of denim on the grid! And i love my new Cowgirl boots – a member gift from Chop Zuey.

Snow Shadows

From totally casual to a bit more formal have a close look at the lovely details of this Crushed Velvet long coat. Just perfect for the crisp winter walks. It will work great over your favorite maxi skirt or, as i did here, paired with tailored pants and a dressy blouse – I chose the Classic Smocked sleeve blouse from Meiling and added the new Fresh Boots from Finesmith.

Last, but definitely not least, how about a vintage look! The latest addition to Trill’s fun line is a terrific Jean Jacket available in a variety of colors and trim options. Here i have combined it with my favorite poodle skirt from Ivalde’s 1950′s collection and the most authentic saddle oxfords i have discovered. I found them at Robin (Sojourner) Woods Avi Shop – a delightful, new-to-me shop with a variety of fascinating items including the prettiest set of wicker furniture for the deck.

Mmmm…Chocolate!

Chocolate!

Who among us doesn’t love chocolate? Snapping a piece off and savoring a rich Belgium dark chocolate with 74% cacao, so sublime, or perhaps the smooth silky tantalization of your tongue when a truffle melts on it, or perhaps unwrapping the jewels of confection, from the box of Maribelle’s of NY signature chocolates, that never made it home. Just the thought of such a delectable can set your mind reeling and your mouth watering. Hold that thought…ok got it? good :)

Chocolate!

Consider what it might be like if that special treat were somehow transformed into an exquisitely luscious wearable. Rose Morpork has done exactly that, realizing her vision in layers of lace and silk in her design of the Chocolate Feast Gown, a recent release from Paris Metro. And what a delightful treat it is, at once daring and elegant. The sheer lace bodice is trimmed in rich dark chocolate velvet to emphasize the tailored design with a raised collar and cuffs. The skirt is a cascade of smooth silks and lace that will have you arriving in marvelously good taste. Sounds pretty yummy, don’t you think?

Chocolate!

Choice of accessories was rather easy, the exceptional Shena Inspiration set from Finesmith Jewelry seems just the right touch to carry on the bold theme of the gown’s design. Hmmmm . . . . the little wrapper on my Dove chocolate bite reads, “I deserve another, just because I’m me.” I believe i will!

Peachtree Southern Style

MW 1930s Styling Challenge - KymSara Rayna

Model’s Workshop is a wonderful gift to Second Life Fashion, an organization that promotes continuing education of models and photographers and a forum for the exchange of ideas. I have attended a few of the Photography workshops over time and enjoy the Monday evening chats sis coordinates. I had not necessarily considered and maybe I should more often, joining the Model’s Worshop Styling Challenge held on Wednesday evenings.

When I saw the announcement that the weekly challenge was a 1930′s theme, Neferia Abel’s latest release from Ivalde immediately came to mind. The Elvira Gown has such a refined gentility and I thought it might be a nice excursion into sharing something I have become quite familiar with styling. I was both honored and amazed at the end of the evening when the voting was concluded, that I won the styling challenge! It is always a treat to share Neferia’s designs.

Being from the south, I grew up to the stories of the well mannered and fashionable southern society. As I prepared, I was paused to ponder the many period photos I had seen of the ladies of Atlanta lined up in their fashionable post antebellum southern style along Peachtree and Forsyth Streets, anxiously awaiting the premiere of Gone with the Wind at Loew’s Grand Theater. That was 1939 and knew the Elvira Gown would suit the definitive look I had in mind.

As I explained to the Model’s Workshop audience, during the 30′s ladies from the south were letting their hair flow while “y’all up nawth were lopping it off” into finger curls. We also were still so very fond of our millinery, a woman of refinement would not be caught dead without a suitable hat for the occasion. However lovely we looked, there were the occasional gusty days no hatpin was large enough to keep our hats from also being “gone with the wind”.

MW 1930s Styling Challenge - KymSara Rayna(Close)

I just had to include the Emma hat, which matched both the era and my vision for the ladies of Atlanta 1930′s outfit and went extremely well with the flowing curls of the Bettie hairdo from Analog Dog. Sadly this particular piece of fine millinery from Elegance Hats is no longer available in Second Life. The good news is that one of the fine makers of vintage shoes, Enkythings, continues to offer a myriad of designs. The Sulaco open toe style shoes are a perfect depression era look and the Clara Pearl set in Golden picked up at +Aurora Borealis+ completed the ensemble beautifully. Thank you to all who attended and voted this ensemble the best styled of the evening. Y’all come back now ya hear!

Raves for Meiling

O'er the foamy sea

Let’s start from the top with a topper! Couture Chapeau has been making hats in SL for a a very long time and we have featured wide selection of CC hats including the one Sequoia is keeping the sun at bay with, the La Loren Firenze Chapeau. What many don’t realize is that there are very strong ties in both RL and SL between Couture Chapeau and the Meiling Couture brand. It was at the invitation of CC owner and designer, Chigadee London, which brought Meiling to Second Life and with Chigadee’s and her partner Balthazar Fouroux’s perseverance Meiling has continued to astonish, enjoying rave reviews for the Second Life interpretations of her real world hit collection, Grand Riviere. Sequoia is wearing the centerpiece of this collection – the Sea Foam Gown. Tosy Xue’s wonderful bracelet & nail sets, MagnaMater in gold, and the Memorial Love Pearl necklace & earring set, both from WTG offer a splendid adornment to this stunning outfit.

O'er the foamy sea

The Sea Foam gown is soft and delightfully feminine, the colour and fabric textures enhance the stunning cut of this cool summer dream. The deep cut ruffled top features a nearly bare back, perfect for those sultry summer beach soires. Elegantly matched with a softly flowing full white linen skirt the Sea Foam gown is both airy and seductive.

In all Innocence

The Innocence gown was dedicated to the winner of the June Meiling Styling Award – Tyra Eiren. Delicate lace, tucks and ruffles remind one of the genteel days of afternoon teas and strolls along the boardwalk or in this case “birdwalk”. KymSara was found warbling “these are a few of my favorite things” as she danced among the scattering of heron in this very special gown.

To climb Mt. Plaisir!

Kym also gives a peek at the delicate Mt Plasir, from the most recent Meiling collection, a pure a delight to wear and the perfect choice for summer evening cocktails and dancing under chandeliers or stars. The modest neckline, ruffled sleeves and flowing knee length skirt offer the perfect elegance and gracefulness for the sophisticated taste.

On Cotton Hill

A very joyful Kym had such a fun time styling options with the Cotton Hill tank top and skirt. Initially she found it to be a fantastic casual outfit, just right for a lunch date or a day of shopping. She was delighted to discover that a few simple additions of a favorite Contessa hat from Couture Chapeau, the new Spiral Bracelet from Finesmith and her bright Sydney heels from SLink made this casual cotton confection an easily dressed up bit of brilliance. It is easy to see why this new brand is doing so well in SL.

Summertime and the Livin’ Is Easy…

Summer Cream

Neferia Abel has released the very popular and much anticipated Part Two of the L`Abel Country Chic Collection to an very enthusiastic response. We are excited to be able to showcase a few of our favorites. The Country Chic Collection Part Two continues the theme set in the first collection of comfortable cotton cool summery fashion with a definitive southern country chic flavor. A full selection of separates and outfits which can be interchanged is sure to have something to suit both your fancy and your taste.

Summer Cream

Sequoia has chosen a few favorties to share. The crisp cream colored July Lace top, paired with the color matched Lana Cream leggings is a fresh and stylish casual outfit – perfect for most everyday summer activity including jaunts to town or a picnic at the lake.

Justa Dasha Raspberry!

For a slightly more dressy look you could pair up the Raspberry Dasha Tunic with the tailored Alicia white pants, a look that inspired her latest +Aurora Borealis+ jewelry creation — The Baccara set available now at the Designer Showcase.

Justa Dasha Raspberry!

KymSara’s favorite outfit from the new collection is definitely the Ella dress with matching bloomers. Feeling and looking every bit the southern country girl that she is, she strolls the colourful summer gardens of Ivalde comfortably cool in the cotton lace couture of the Ella outfit. Kym’s G Field Lace Up boots not only match well but are easy on her feet as she steps over the uneven terrain and with the summer heat bringing her hair off her neck was easy with a fresh new hair style – Cocomin, from LaLa Moon.

Summertime, and the livin' is easy . . .

Yes, its summertime and the livin’ is easy at L`Abel. Y’all come on down and see us real soon now, ya hear.

Northern Lights Over the City of Light

Reflections of Aurora Borealis from the North Pole

JeanPierrot Hamelin, Curator of the Paris Metro Art Gallery recently premiered a new exhibit of RL Danish & Second Life Artist Betty Tureaud’s work entitled “North Pole”. In the exhibit the award winning Miss Tureaud experiments with the brilliant spectrum of colour and light of the Aurora Borealis. Rose (RFB Morppork), owner of the Paris Metro Art Gallery and designer of Paris Metro, took the opportunity to collaborate with Betty to create an unbelievable new dress to add to her Paris Metro Artist series. Rose has captured the colours and dynamics of the artist’s work beautifully in the truly inspired Betty Tureaud gown. The movement of the brilliant patterns and flow of the gown is as mesmerizing as natures brilliant display. This fabulous gown is available at Paris Metro for the duration of the exhibit with 50% of proceeds going directly to the to Miss Tureaud. The “North Pole” exhibit is something you must experience and i urge you to attend. Here is your taxi (click to SLurl) Paris Metro Art Gallery. Put your settings on midnight when you arrive :)

Paris Metro: Relay for Life

Relay for Life Gown - Sea Star by Paris Metro

What a fantastic weekend past with all the music and the emotion and walking of the track, Relay for Life was a tremendous success! The weekend before that saw the UNITED STYLE CARD FASHION SHOW, a RFL event inspired and managed by Prissy Price, take to the runway with music and fabulous styling competition of which Paris Metro was a part. Rose’s (RFB Morpork) Paris Metro contribution to this extravaganza was a spectacular gown called Sea Star Ruby. The good news is even if you if you missed the events you have not missed your opportunity to contribute to cancer research through the Relay for Life! Many of the Relay for Life exclusive items will still be out for sale across the grid until August 31st, including this gorgeous gown for only 200 lindens, a fraction of what Rose normally charges with ALL proceeds going to the RFL.

Relay for Life Gown - Sea Star by Paris Metro

Seeing just how elegant this off the shoulder gown was, it seemed a perfect opportunity to “toss in some Tosy”. Meaning, the NEW Myth Ensemble from WTG and the mind of Tosy Xue, a most glamorous gold filigree jewelry and nail set.

We encourage you to continue to share in the “Season of Hope” and contribute where you are able and pick up the fabulous RFL designs donated by these generous content creators. The Sea Star Ruby Gown can be found in the main store by clicking on this hyperlink Paris Metro for RFL. Go Relay!!!

….You Make My Heart Sing!

Chillin' at the Cascades

It’s officially Summer, and time to find that perfect swimsuit! We’ve been watching our waists, counting our pixel intake. Now we get to show off our sexy curvaceous shape in high style! Swaffette Firefly has created some extraordinary sets for the beach and poolside, including her wonderful new line of Wild Thing Swimwear from SF Design. Each suit comes with a matching sarong which intensifies the vibrant colors patterned exquisitely in an animal skin. All of the color selections are tempting , i finally decided on the pink in snakeskin. That settled, i knew exactly where to turn for accessories – where else but Finesmith?

Chillin' at the Cascades

I faced a wide selection of possibilities from Yula’s myriad of incredible designs. I couldn’t narrow to one set so decided on pieces from a couple of different Finesmith series – the earrings are from the Leah Inspiration Set, while the bracelets i like best come from The Idioma Series – both are colour change and menu adjustable. And of course would feel naked without my nails so i added Finesmith Rave nails to finish the look. I recently picked up a few summery shoes at a new store to me, SHOEnique. The have some really unique and comfortably stylish designs worth a trip to see. I chose the Sea Shell Wedges which not only looked just right ,but have a name to match for any beach or swim suit destination.
