There’s just something about the Tango

Whether you have legs curled in a dimly lit, smoky club in Buenos Aires, or you are curled up at home with a glass of fine wine watching Dancing With the Stars, the Tango captures the imagination. It’s a steamy dance that just radiates mystery and sensuality. Poulet Koenkamps’s new release from PurpleMoon Creation exemplifies that mood so very well! The spicy hot little Malena dress is not one to wear if you want to sit still, it just begs to go dancing. The hat, cuffs and tie I am wearing are actually accessories from Tangorize Me, another new release PurpleMoon outfit. I thought they added sort of a fanciful and intriguing touch to this totally flirty feminine dress. The Malena invites you to play to create your own imaginative scenario and make it a reality.



I also found just the right bold makeup look in Lily – Hush Skins’ latest release. The honey tone, with the Ravish makeup selection, is so perfect for the look and the fiery mood of the Tango! I love this Bella hair that i purchased sometime back from I Love Olive, unfortunately that store closed. However, the designer, Prosperitus Nakamura who now goes by the nomme de plume, Mrs. Amour, is back and has a new store Pomme d Amour. Perhaps you can persuade her to bring the Bella back

Retro is back . . . hmmm is that redundant?

It seems that recently some of our favorite designers have been picking up inspiration from past decades. We even saw a great new sim, Spyderville, spring up with a completely fifties theme. That’s where we found these groovy Barbie boxes. Sadly, it is disappearing almost as quickly as it rezzed. But the timeless styles of the era continue. Neferia Abel continues to amaze us with her fastidious study of vintage era fashions, and her finely crafted vintage dresses. Sequoia is wearing one of her favorites, the Katinka, a recent addition to the Ivalde Fifties Collection. Kym is showing a brand new offering, the ChaCha dress, from PurpleMoon’s Vintage collection. With all crinolines and florals these designs capture the fashion spirit of the 1950′s, but can also be perfectly compatible with a trendy summer party today.We also continue to be very impressed with the expanding line of Hush Skins. Each new release is a delightful surprise!

Poulet Koenkamp is really on a roll with her elegant mesh releases from Purple Moon! Her fab Bed of Roses Gown, shown here in but one of the yummy colors, is definitely a front-runner in mesh design. While we were a bit skeptical that we’d see our favorite designers really embrace this new medium, the consistently beautiful and well-fitted offerings from PurpleMoon are showing that it can be done very well indeed. Seq found the Teal and Grape colors ideal for her graceful Nena jewelry ensemble from Aurora Borealis and was delighted that the hemline allows her to show off her new Goshi Pumps from Mstyle.

And, speaking of hemlines! The little Julia Balloon dress from PurpleMoon raises both the hemline, and the bar in mesh design. This a most comfortable dress which has some wonderful movement and enables one to sit down gracefully, without having parts vanish into the pose! If you haven’t yet tried any mesh designs this dress would make an excellent first run. Comfortable, and easy to dress up or stay casual. Fay’s Dorian platform heels work extremely well for a evening of dancing at the club, and provide a good reason to sit down and enjoy that mesh flexibility too.

This could get Meshie!

While so many other designers are struggling with the basics of the mesh, Poulet Koenkamp of PurpleMoon is already leading out in some innovative exploitation of this new fashion potential. My favorite advantage is the death of the mini skirt coverage prim. It seemed forever impossible that we would have the solution for a perfect seamless match up in pattern and texture we can have with mesh! I have had my struggles, like others, of acceptance of mesh, but mesh in the right hands is really bringing my opinion full circle. A really good example of this is PurpleMoon’s new selection of Urban Mini Dresses. I love the fit and no fussing or body adjustment was needed! I matched it up with one of my Nena sets from Aurora Borealis and off i went. Oh did i mention the Nena sets are all on sale now for only 123 lindens at the Aurora Borealis Four Season Plaza store. Among Poulet’s delightful mesh offerings in this latest release is the Lyn Cocktail Dress. More than a simple mesh design, the luscious tone-on-tone fabric choice and contrasting accents and details give this new dress a fine quality look. I loved finding that the latest hunt offerings from Aurora Borealis – the Woven Leather Bangles and the Gold Filigree Cuff – are so nicely matched too! A Evening at the Rose

Poulet Koenkamp of PurpleMoon has definitely raised the bar with the release of her exquisitely textured Rusalka Gown. Named for the elegant fashion icon Rusalka Callisto, the Rusalka gown is another example of the fabulous attention to fabric choices that are the trademark of PurpleMoon. The light catching contours and perfectly balanced tones of the flowing skirt accented with a laced bolero bodice, and contrasting long gloves and sash complete a totally unique look.



And what could be a better finishing touch than her latest Cubics jewelry design – shown here in the Dans la Choclaterie theme, this angular set provides a thoroughly modern and unique contrast with the soft lines of the gown.

Autumn has come to Second Life, you can almost feel the chill in the air. Poulet Koenkamp has created a fabulous ensemble that will keep you deliciously warm and stylishly forward in her latest release from PurpleMoon. The highlight of this complete and delightfully versatile themed wardrobe, in my opinion, is the fur-trimmed Zorali coat. This coat is sooo luscious I might even be tempted to leave the comfort of home in the deep south to visit Sequoia in the great white north? I am certain to get a few extra days to wear this beautiful coat.



Sis says i can leave the coat when i go home, but that would be a shame because it goes so brilliantly with the rest of the outfit. From the Maybel fabulous sleeveless knit pullover top with optional cowl collar, to the Tess Skirt or Trousers, to the Growl Pumps, her texture and tailored detail is simply exquisite. As if that weren’t enough, the collection also includes the Atomic jewelry set, with color coordinated earrings and necklace, a snuggly and stylish Growl Scarf, and a pair of matching Comfy Boots. As to visiting Seq, she says if she can’t have the coat then we will meet in Manhattan for some Christmas window shopping. Ooooh that’s the ticket!

The Sun sets under the PurpleMoon

After a stunningly beautiful day at the Bonaire Beach Club, it is always calming to feel the ocean breeze wash over you while watching the sunset. Before rushing off to a formal dinner engagement, it is always nice to seek a refreshment at the bar on the beach to reflect and relax, as the moon replaces the suns rays to illuminate the white sand with it’s iridescent glow. I was so pleased to find that Poulet Koenkamp can provide just the perfect solution for a full day and early evening at the beach.

The NEW Guarana Bikini ensemble from PurpleMoon, is at once a very sexy approach to an afternoon of sunbathing, and as the sun sets, the addition of the matching hat and pareo skirt the Guaran ensemble transforms to a sophisticated casual look for that visit to the Tiki Bar. Such a fun day to remember!

PurpleMoon at World’s End

Poulet K’s recent Floral Dress release at Purple Moon could possibly be the most perfect summer addition to your wardrobe. The Floral Dress has three optional skirt variations including a daring utra-mini with a unique floral hem, a lovely lace trimmed mini, and a frothy Empire-waisted tunic style. Such versatility! you can tuck this flexible ensemble into your travel bag and be ready for any spur of the moment special event. The most difficult thing is choosing a particular color to wear from Poulet’s full selection of lovely florals.



I thought the Etnia Bangles from Purple Moon were very well suited to the B&W theme and i am always pleased with any opportunity to add my favorite two-tone spectator pumps — The FeliciaStilettos from SLink. Of course by now you almost come to expect a Kym styling to include a special hat.



I found the Sabrina from Couture Chapeau to be just right. Chigadee London’s collection of incredible hats always offers a tempting style. The Sabrina, which i especially love for summer, has a menu-driven color change sash band to match most every outfit.



Last but definitely not least – Yula Finesmith has just release d a line of SOLID color nails ! We have enjoyed her amazing decorated nails for some time and now these are perfect for everyday, as well as dress up occasions. Yula has a 50% moving sale for many of her items now until she opens her new Finesmith location in the next few days. It was such fun to put this ensemble together, my first pick of the Floral Dresses was the crisp black and white but, after spending the afternoon shooting this one, it is quite likely i will head back to Purple Moon for more.

Masked in Mystery

Why is it that glamour and mystery so often find themselves inextricably linked? Should we consider the rich heritage of imagery found in classic film, of the desires seething behind a bejeweled mask or the mask we create to hide our innermost longings, or should we turn to the words of Richard Le Gallienne.“…mystery is more than half of beauty, the element of strangeness that stirs the senses through the imagination.”

Either way i found great passion in creating that which could spark the imagination. Poulet Koekamp captures that spirit and excitement with her incredible Mystery in Cherry gown from Purple Moon. Her recipe, lest i keep you in suspense, is to take dramatically lush cherry red fabric, add a generous portion of sensuously sheer black lace, a flair of billowy feather plumage and form into a sensational figure caressing gown that will inspire imagination, illuminating notions of intrigue and desire. Drawing upon that air of romanticism of the Venetians i donned my masquerade mask from AVid,the Raven to complete this glamorous presentation with a flourish. PurpleMoon’s Mystery in Cherry provides the impetus to think of what Oscar Wilde once said, ” This suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.”
