Making the Scene in a Silky Dream!

Goin' Clubbin' (3)

Faery Sola, Owner and creator of Studio Sidhe, has been expressing her incredible creativity for quite some time now in jewelry, poses and props, fantasy environments, and has even created a unicycle! When i saw her Limited Edition Leaf Cocktail Dress it was truly hard to believe she has never released a dress until now. This frock from Faery is such a dreamy design, executed in the lightest faerie silk and delicately trimmed with embroidered leaf patterns and a rose corsage at the the high waist.
My favorite is the tiered cocktail version, the long skirt and non-tiered cocktail length options, which are included, are also delightful. There are six luscious colors available all worth a serious look. To celebrate the release Faery is sponsoring a photo competition. 52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Green

52 Week Color Challenge - Green (2)

Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge for this week was GREEN. Having worn a several seasonal Holly-Green outfits through holidays, I was pleased to see that the sample color swatch offered was more of a jade green. And even more pleased to find some lovely gowns at a newly discovered shop — Bella Donna on Rodeo Drive.

52 Week Color Challenge - Green (3)

Bella Donna owner and designer Bree Flanagan’s lovely Green Oriental gown really caught my eye from my arrival in the store. The color was right and the detail work, incuding the woven gold trim which follows the plunging neckline and deep cut back, adds an elegant finish to the shimmering floral Oriental silk.

I thought i was finished and was celebrating my shopping success when I spotted yet another beautiful silk gown in soft pastel shades of jade. I hope Luna will be fine with our submittal of two gowns to her challenge this week. It was terribly difficult to decide and the Coco Elegant dress was difficult to pass up.

Bree emphasizes soft femininity in the Coco Elegant design with a sheer waist sash and a nicely contrasting satin bodice in soft gold. I am delighted to present both of these gowns and to welcome Bella Donna to Notions of Style. ~ kym

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Cerise

Tinsel Time! for 52 Week Color Challenge - Cerise

Think Cerise, think Cerise . . . hmmmm . . . . we were looking for the perfect fit for this weeks Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge and then along came Beu, all excited about her new outfit from Purple Moon and there it was! This clever little tinsel wrap outfit (shown here without the optional neck garland) by Poullet Koenkamp, will be a festive look for those holiday parties. And, unwrapped it includes a casual top, gloves and tights, which can be worn alone, or combined with another top of your choice for whatever flexible styling you can think of. It was so special to have our sister, Beulah Mills, put in a guest appearance in our blog. Special thanks for her peppy modelling of this festive look! Check out her blog One Thing at a Time

Styling Seasonal

It works for zebras!

Well, after that sunny, summery diversion for the challenge in yellow and a small vacation it is time to get seasonal again! Seq, I and all loyal fans of Ivalde have been having such fun collecting the delightful Advent surprises Neferia Abel has gifted to all her Ivalde customers! Almost too much newness to keep up with, we manage somehow always don’t we *wink*! And … never will you hear me complain for more space on my closet floor there is always room for shoes and boots! I recently discovered a relatively new shoe shop – FM Shoes has only been on the grid for about 5 months now. Norman Maroon is the designer and his work is great, and his attitude even better! Sis and i visited with him and learned all about his objectives to offer attractive, well designed shoes and boots which are also easy to wear and adjust. An example of his work is his HUD design, which allows you to make adjustments and save settings for multiple skin AND use a single Master HUD to work with any of his shoes! AND it operates on a SINGLE script! Yes! That will make our lives so much so much easier, but do his designs look good? More good news- yes! When i found his Zebra boots i knew exactly the outfit to match them up with – Ivalde’s Jina – Nef’s Advent Gift #9. If you missed it, you can pick it up for a really discounted price after Christmas. I think that Zebras are onto something – Black and White is a super look!

Bluebird in the Snow

Another of my favorite holiday looks is the classic red plaid, captured so perfectly in L`Abel’s Doriane coat. The crisp fur trimmed cropped jacket and flared long skirt reminds me of luxurious vintage weaved fabrics, but the classic lines of this coat are entirely up to date with the most current trending styles. I’ve paired my new red Paris boots, also from FM shoes, feeling very much in a winter wonderland. ~ kym

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Yellow

52 Week Color Challenge - Yellow

Yellow conjures all thoughts of sunshine and spring time — just what we need to boost our spirits as Winter descends on most of us! So, with nary a thought to the blowing snow and freezing temperatures, off I went to the studio to capture that fresh spirit for Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge !!! I thought what could be more fresh than the the sprightly Merle sundress from SySy Chapman? The pastels look so new and revitalizing the contrasting floral hem border brings out the softness of the dress so nicely. The Merle comes with a second, longer skirt with an empire waistline but, love the look of this version best. With the addition of these comfy Espadrilles from GoS I am all set for an afternoon stroll on the beach. Well, maybe i’ll hold off just a bit — at least til the snow melts!

Exquisitely Set for a Holiday Hunt

POE3 Coming soon to a neighbourhood near you...

The holiday season always seems to bring out the best of some of our wonderful SL designers. We will be taking a look at some of the seasonal designs during December. A Second Life tradition that we look forward to each year is the Peace on Earth Gridwide Hunt [POE] – now in its 3rd year! My Dear Sis and co-conspirator on the Notions Blog, is also the founder and organizer of the POE3. This year she created a lovely Antique Cameo Jewelry set which is the first gift in the hunt which features 280 of SL’s best. This set from ABJ [Aurora Borealis Jewelry] is a very Victorian themed set, a perfect match for Ivalde’s Holiday edition of the Dorothea gown. However upon trying it with other new and current release holiday gowns i discovered that it also works extremely well. The detail is exquisite and the poinsettia cameo is timeless. The hunt begins at ABJ [Aurora Borealis Jewelry], Happy hunting! for more on POE3 visit the blog at: http://peaceonearthhunt.wordpress.com/ ~ kym

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Sepia

52 Week Color Challenge - Sepia

My turn Kymmie! Worth the wait! This week Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge called for Sepia. This stimulated thoughts of both Vintage dresses and vintage photos. I recalled all those worn old photo albums with curled faded photographs with warm toned shots of relatives and friends of my parents and grandparents. Kym’s thought was to see if we could find a suitable mix of old and new. I am wearing the Elisabeth from Ivalde’s 1950’s Collection which is a beautiful example of the post war return to femininity that came back into fashion in the mid to late forties into the 50’s. Though sepia was more from earlier period we wanted to see what it might have looked like say around this date in a Texas city studio 60 years ago. Notice i am indoors so no need for my gloves which every lady would have worn then :).
