52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Sky Blue

52 Week Color Challenge - Sky Blue

Starlight, Starbright . . .
I wish i may, i wish i might meet Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge of SKY BLUE with pure delight!

Bree Flanigan’s newly release Starr Gown from BellaDonna captures the essence of the Heavens with a completely rich spectrum of all the hues of blue from the starkness of midnight through to the true SKY BLUE of a bright sunny day. She adds a suggestion of starlight to add a special sparkle and luminessence. Miss Flanagan’s attention to detail and her fine design skills are reflected as brightly as the sparkles in this lovely gown. The back and front bows and two tiered bodice add interest, intricacy and a continuity of motion. Bree has even included a pair of matching gloves with a fascinating orchid floral design at the wrist to complete the elegant look.

Julia Merosi of je::suis offers a lovely range of their Tente jewelry with a modern assymetric look and color change options within each color family. Appropriately, i am showing the Sky color, which includes menu driven options for ten more color variations as well as size and metal setting adjustments.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Umber

52 Week Color Challenge - Umber

You may have noticed we took a short break to catch our breath after the Fashion For Life. We spent our entire effort for the almost two weeks showcasing items where 100% of the proceeds went to the Relay for Life. We find it such a worthy effort and were glad to have shared in it.

As a result of our devotion, we are running to catch up with Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge. Thankfully, on a trip to see the perfectly wonderful floral dresses designed by pixivor Allen, i spotted just the right gown to complete our UMBER week challenge! When my eyes fell upon the Lady Chocolat gown i knew i had found a dress that did not just meet the color criteria, but one that rates very high marks as a fave for the season. Miss Allen brings life to the dark brown shade of Umber with the addition of a colorful dotted pattern in the bodice and a brilliant flash of bright orange for the sash, which trails off beautifully, to provide additional contrast the whole length of the flowing skirt. It should also be stated, that in keeping with pixivor’s sensibility and exquisite spot on detail, she finished the bodice with an edging of that same flaming orange. Sheer perfection!

52 Week Color Challenge - Umber

Finding just the perfect jewels to match this AlaFolie gem was a challenge all its own. Julia Merosi, of ::je::suis::, had the answer to that puzzle in her tente sunset set. I bought up the necklace, earrings and bracelets all sold separately to complete this amazing look.

Fashion For Life: Sascha’s Designs

Today is a special day for Kym and i, we have reached a milestone of exactly 100 blog posts in Notions of Style! We are glad this auspicious occasion occurred on the last day of a truly wonderful event, Fashion For Life. Tonight during the last few hours we are strolling and seeing what else we might pick up to help bring us closer to that $5 Million linden goal for Relay For Life. Oh so close $4,567,401 at this posting!!!

Fashion for Life - SAS Gown

We chose Sascha’s Designs for our 100th and as our last blog post for FFL because it allowed us the opportunity style together for our special milestone. We begin by sharing a picture of ourselves wearing Beerel Black and White dresses, [Kym in White & Seq in Black], which truly illustrate well the theme of this years Fashion For Life “Beyond Black & White”. Our time together as bloggers and sisters has colored our lifes in immeasurable ways. We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the incredible outfits presented by a few of our favorite designers who participated, so generously, in the Fashion For Life event. We have a lot of other favorites, but time did not permit us to include them all. We hope you have also found some favorites and discovered some new designers during this incredible event and that you will run back today for a quick final look before it is all over for 2011.

Fashion for Life - SAS Gown

One of our favorites of the entire event is the Arrogance gown collection. Elegant, romantic, dramatic, sensuous and more! Sascha has taken the most luxurious black silk and created a dream gown series with so many delightful options that we could only begin to explore them here! Also lest you be confused by the switch of hair colors on your Notion’s friends, for the Arrogance, Sequoia is in red hair and KymSara in blond.

Fashion for Life - SAS Arrogance Gown, Long Variation

The SAS Arrogance gown can be worn in long formal style witth a slim or full skirt adorned with intricate bead and sequin patterns. I have chosen the full version here and selected the full sleeveless top option. Seq picked the cocktail version and paired it with the daring lace cutout top and the Extravaganza Shawl, for a completely different look. The ensemble includes several top and skirt variations which are equally alluring and will provide you with a myriad of fantastic looks throughout the coming season. And 100% of the proceeds go to Relay For Life!!!

Special Note:
We just could not resist including a very special new release from tosy Xue, designer of WTG jewelry, in this our final FFL blog because it was so conspicuously perfect. While not a part of this years’ event his Blessings Series works so very well with the SAS gown that we wanted to share it with you. You will be seeing more about this creative jeweler here soon.

Fashion For Life: Orage Creations

Fashion for Life - Orage Creations - Flowers!

Fashion For Life concludes today and it is time to get in our last minute favorites. There are so many fabulous works contributed by SL’s top designers that we have showcased several designs by one designer and in some case several clothes designers in one post. Every once in a while though, you come across a special dress that deserves the spotlight on its own. Elettra Gausman’s dramatic B&W Flowers Gown is clearly that kind of dress, and certainly among my top choices at FFL! I always discover some incrediblly beautiful things at Orage Creations and among all of my favorites of her designs this gown is a standout!

Elettra selected a unique floral print for the main dress pieces, highlighting the rose pattern at the bodice and waist. The flowing billows of sheer silk complete this elegant and feminine masterpiece. But wait! That is only the foundation, look at the incredible detail of the black rose corsage adorning the bodice, complete with contouring twisted thorny stems. Perhaps an evening of close dancing might lead to a prickly situation , but every thorn has its rose and one could always set aside these accents if the evening blossoms!

Should the eventide seems electric, could it be because of the exquisite set of Spring pearls from Eclectica adds an enticing extravagance to Elettra’s evening wear? It may be you will have to decide for yourself, but you better hurry both of these items are available only through midnight tonight March 22nd at FFL.

Fashion for Life - Schoen Ibiza Moon

Today i am jumping in with three really different outfits with everything from classic elegance to comfy casual. First from Schoen (Schön) by Saya Littlething (沙耶) comes, the Ibiza Moon / Lover’s Night gown, a lovely romantic creation with a bit of a surprise…..

Fashion for Life - Schoen Ibiza Moon

….the demure tiers of black edged sheer violet cut away to a daring full-length reveal on the left side! Definitely a design which will have you exploring both sides of your inner fashioniosta!

Fashion for Life - Schoen Rira

Next is the sassy little Rira dress , also from Schoen (Schön), which comes with a contrasting mini-cape and matching hat. The flared mini-length skirt and deep cut neckline make this little number reminiscent of ’70’s designs, and is sure to turn more than a few heads. I love the Silk Floral Booties from Duh! a super low price! and such a great match with this outfit.

Fashion for Life - Schoen Froh Hoodie

Last i brought four designs from four separate stores into one look. This casual ensemble is great when you get back home to kick back after a busy day, or on your way to the track/gym relax. I slipped into the high waisted Chloe Jeans and Samantha tank top from Fab Pony and then i paired up with the Froh Hoodie jacket from Schoen (Schön) and the kicky little Floral Linen flats from Duh! I spiced it up a bit more with some funky Fab Pony Fantasy60 Earrings in black and Blonde-tipped Coal “Suzy” hairstyle from Amacci. You all know me as a true blonde, but how could i resist? The end result is something incredibly comfortable and cozy. While i have you thinking warm fuzzy thoughts let me remind you all of these items are donated to raise funds to support a cure for cancer, so don’t delay it all ends March 22nd

Fashion For Life: G. Sloane Couture

One Starry Nite - Fashion for Life - G. Sloane

The rustle of fine silk, the allure of black lace, and the daring reveal of just so much decollette, are combined in artful measure by Geryn Sloane in the sumptuous design of her For the Cure Dress. There is even a light touch of whimsy in the details, including a violet bodice rose in this centerpiece of the the G. Sloane Couture (GSC) offering for the Fashion For Life. This is just one of the delightful discoveries i put on my list on my first stroll through the FFL sims. I have already enjoyed many raves and compliments while wearing it dancing and mingling with friends. There is no doubt in my mind that will happen for you as well…plus you get to help Fashion For Life come closer to their $5 Million Linden goal.

Fashion For Life: LeeZu

Fashion for Life - LeeZu #1

Among the many fine designers participating in FFL, LeeZu Baxter Designs FFL offerings are quite distinctive. LeeZu has put together an amazing and generous collection of dresses available in the donation vendors at her shop at FFL. If you are as impressed as i was, you may just find yourself with an whole new spring wardrobe before you leave LeeZu Baxter Designs shop in FFL.

My attentions was immediately drawn to the Catch Lily dress , a crisp black and white cocktail dress that is a must have! Perfect for the business lunch, afternoon garden parties or that cruise you have been planning for your spring vacation, this little number is just the right mix of sassy and suitable for many situations. FAB.PONY Legacy Black fantasy earrings play nicely off the futuristic collar and add a perfect complement.

Fashion for Life - LeeZu #1

Next to capture my attention was A Mon Insu Gown in black accented with violet roses in a spiral cascade down the skirt and boldly adorning an impressive matching hat. This French inspired gown will also capture the attention of the crowd at a formal event or perhaps a masquerade ball. I had occasion to wear once already and was delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response.

Fashion for Life - LeeZu #2

And last, LeeZu rises to the occasion with her fresh take on the LBD. The Lizz Flexi Dress in black is a very special dress which features a daring neckline plunge, a wide self-belt fastened with a bold geometric closure, and what seems like miles of sheer silk echoing the square geometics of the belt pattern in a assymetric skirt which floats responsively to your every move. The Lizz Flexi Dress is also available in soft grey. Taking full advantage of the dress design i added some of my Zelda Hanadama knotted pearls available at FFL from +AURORA BOREALIS+ ~seq

Fashion For Life: SYSY’s

Fashion for Life - SySy's Leiya Gown

SySy Chapman brings her variety of design skills to the FFL this year with two different approaches to seductive and sexy. First she thrills us with classic and simple lines of her Leiya Gown. The Leiya will softly accentuate the femininity of any who wear it, a trailing arm drapery adds a sensual flow and dream feel. A perfect choice for that next formal evening, Leiya is also available in soft rose.

Fashion for Life - SySy's Hush Dress

In contrast, SySy’s short and sassy Hush dress is ready to rock. A must have to pair with your most impossible heels and long legs. The combination will put you firmly in the center of attention on the dance floor! In addition to the silver grey this lively number is also available in cherry.

Fashion For Life: SF Designs

The Relay for Life in Second Life has kicked off in a big way and we will be quite busy at Notions of Style during Fashion for Life, running March 12-22. Like so many, the devastating effects of cancer has touched our lives. We want to encourage you to take that special trip to walk the 9 sims of Fashion for Life visiting the 180 stores. Please remember all funds in donation vendors go to the American Cancer Society. This includes the regular dedicated vendors, gacha and hunt items. Each designer has at least 4 items or outfits they are offering with all proceeds going to RFL. A lot to choose from and affordable items which will help you to bring more dollars the American Cancer Society to bring a cure. We will try to show you as many of the designs that caught our eye as we can during the run of the event. Go to http://fashionforlifesl.com for the latest news and locations and list of designers.

The theme of Fashion for Life this year is “Beyond Black and White.” Instead of doing themes that were based on locales or one monolithic theme, FFL came upon the idea of making the sims in black and white—like a black and white photo. They felt that this would reinforce how cancer is no longer a black and white diagnosis because of the work of the American Cancer Society. They provide funds, programs and support that takes cancer “beyond black and white.” Designers and builders were given this theme and encouraged to interpret it as they pleased.

Fashion for Life - SF Designs - Lauren

Swaffette Firefly of SF Designs has designed two wonderful gowns for the FFL. They are not only beautiful but, are created for, and dedicated to, some very special people.

The Lauren, in rich teal silk, includes both evening and cocktail versions . This gown is dedicated and created for Lauren Fox – Lauren is currently undergoing chemotherapy for Ovarian Cancer.

Fashion for Life - SF Designs - Briar Rose

The Briar Rose gown is a recreation of gown from the RFL 2009 auction, with the permission of Feles Seitan, who purchased the original and has recently been bereaved by cancer. This very special creation features an elegantly detailed Briar Rose overskirt which continues the flow of the bodice embroidery. This gown is dedicated to Wiccan Sojourner who lost her fight to Lymphoma in December 2010.

Both of these extraordinary creations are available as FFL selections at the SF Designs booth and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the American Cancer Society for cancer research.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Ecru

52 Week Color Challenge - Ecru

Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge this week brought Ecru, a color from the palette i am most happy to see. There is a gown from Ranena Olivier Couture (ROC) that was released a few months ago i had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to showcase. The Delilah gown was worth the wait to find the right accessories and hair to give the complete look i was hoping for. ROC’s Delilah gown comes with both long and short skirt options and a delicate lace overskirt with some wispy tendrils which simply float with your every move. It is an elegant formal look which merits the addition of AlienBear Design’s fabulous Kielo jewelry set.

52 Week Color Challenge - Ecru

I was thrilled to also be able to add La Fleur Rose, one of the new dramatic couture nail designs, which include the bangles and rings, offered as part of the incredibly detailed jewelry line created by tosy Xue of WTG. And finally as you probably know that i am dedicated follower of Damselfly Hair and hope you will indulge my calling your attention to one of the latest in their expanding line of hairbase styles. The Necy is a perfect match to the Deliah gown both softly feminine and elegantly formal. To give just the perfect attitude i was able to pick up some new poses from Morgane Batista Pose Shop during the grand opening of her new shop. Such a wonderful combination – all worth waiting for.~kym
