All That Glitters…Part I

AlaFolie - Miss Philippines Gown

I received a fabulous and rather satisfying surprise the other day, one that was eyeopening to say the least!
I am not naturallly drawn to sequins, but when i slipped into the absolutely elegant Miss Philippines gown created by pixivor Allen, I was completely blown away! Instantly transformed, I was feeling every bit of the glamorous starlet with an adoring paparazzi begging for just one more pose.

AlaFolie - Miss Philippines Gown

This beautiful dress from Ala Folie captures your imagination as well as the complete attention of those who will see you wearing it. pixivor has sculpted some very alluring lines; the entire gown, including the flared train, is made from a soft translucent lace with a sequin pattern providing an extremely attractive focus. Both the front and back of this gown and the cross-lacing at the back getting the full sparkle treatment.

AlaFolie - Miss Philippines Gown

The glitz and glamor theme is carried throughout including the optional fleurs with a hint of gold tone giving contrast and additional interest. The flow and movement of the sequined streamers cascading from the shoulder fleur is a very attractive feature i love. The Miss Philippines gown is so attention grabbing it felt right to choose accessories that would add to the total effect without being a distraction. Yula Finesmith’s recently released, and appropriately named, Rissa Delicate Earrings from Finesmith Jewelry seemed the perfect accent to complete this look. “But wait!”, you say “Aren’t there two other exciting variations of this gown?” I guess you will just have to stay tuned 🙂

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Asparagus

52 Week Color Challenge - Asparagus!!

Today we are happy to announce the release of Elisianna from Ivalde. You may have caught our fun and silliness of the flickr preview of this beautiful asparagus colored dress we did over the weekend. It was so terrific that Neferia allowed us to preview this lovely design. When we saw the color of the dress, being worn by Neferia as she went about her daily business in her store, we thought it the perfect color and fit for Asparagus week of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge and we thought it worth the wait for the release to post to our blog for the challenge.

Don'cha Just Luv Asparagus!

When we began this post, being so close to Easter, it was not a great leap to think in terms of Christian themes and children chasing through the garden for the colorful eggs which brought to mind the ever popular children’s tales of vegetable characters (careful dancing around trademarked name lol). I happened to mention to Sequoia, in jest, that we should invite that distinguished and most renowned animated asparagus in the world to do a guest shot for the blog. Next thing I know she is in the yard with a freshly minted 93 primly proper Archie Aspergrass (name changed to protect the innocent)! Mr. Aspergrass, being such a celebrated and herbivorously poised perrenial, I knew, would enjoy having his picture taken with me in Elisianna, it being such a delightful Edwardian day dress, a perfect style to suit our monocled friend.

52 Week Color Challenge - Asparagus!!

Not only was the color just right but, the fine detail of this dress will amaze you. Neferia has release the Elisianna in 6 of the most lovely era colors. And speaking of just right colors you will notice that the simple and elegant Green Rice Zelda pearls, which are perfect with the dress. You will certainly want to visit +Aurora Borealis+ for a set to match your dress! Hope you enjoy our friend Archie as much as we enjoyed working with him! Oh and if you hurry you can get the dress for 50% off for a limited time.

Elegant Ensembles Part II

Sascha Zephra - Full Ball Gown Variation

Part two of my Elegant ensembles post begins with a beautiful pose and focus on the exquisite J.D-2 ensemble from the creative mind of tosy Xue. WTG has offered many wonderful sets in the past year and this may be the crown jewel. Not only is the J.D-2 ensemble a perfect set to play off the Zephra, but the ensemble options give nearly as much variety, all re-sizable, the ensemble includes choker and necklace styles which can be attached to either spine or chest to enable you to work easily with all clothing attachments, as well as beautiful bracelets for either or both arms, and the most finely detailed earpieces. Exquisite fit and such elegance, the bracelets are such a striking accent to wear over the the soft full length gloves.

Sascha Zephra - Full Ball Gown Variation

The full ball gown variation can be fabulously trimmed in a sheer shawl surrounding the bare shoulders and a hat of the same light material woven into this terribly chic matching hat. Sascha Frangelli has really created the all in one formal ensemble in the Zephra : the perfect little black cocktail dress, to the full ballroom gown with accessories including hat, stockings, gloves, ruffled collar, shawl, and bolero. In these two posts i put together three totally different looks, but could easily have assembled many many more . . . and i will! I will with certainty, turn to this delightful set time and time again for special occasions in the coming season.

Elegant Ensembles Part I

Sascha Zephra - Cocktail Variation

I hardly know where to begin. Sascha Designs new Zephra ensemble is full of so many elegant options it boggles the mind! Sascha Frangelli has just released two sets of a phenomenal dress, in black and white versions, named Zephra. A name from a bygone era of refined privilege, these collections offer so many exciting choices and variations to help you style for any occasion this fashion season and into future! Also featured, the new release from tosy Xue of WTG.

Sascha Zephra - Cocktail Variation

To give you a sense of the possibilities even one dress ensemble can offer is too much to submit in just one blog post. Therefore, we will split into two parts beginning with the cocktail variation, which was the last look i assembled, but is a very good place to start. Brought together are the cocktail skirt, one of over 5 skirt options, the sweetheart backless top and the wonderfully constructed bolero, shown with the choker version of J.D-2 jewel set from WTG.

tosy Xue’s newly released J.D-2 ensemble is a perfect counterpoint to the Zephra, with nearly as many options including choker and necklace styles which can be attached to either spine or chest to enable you to work easily with all the clothing attachments as well as beautiful bracelets for either or both arms, and the most finely detailed earpieces i have seen lately!

Sascha Zephra - Long Strapless Variation

Next is the long strapless variation i felt was just the sort of simple elegant formal that fits in so many occasions. This time i introduce the J.D-2 full length necklace from WTG. See what wonderful lines this gown has from every side. The back cutaway is curved to the waist and ultra sexy. The possibilities of accessories is endless, i love how the J.D-2 bracelet looks against the soft full length gloves. Stay tuned for a third variation tomorrow 🙂

Pastoral Pastels for Easter

Ivalde Zaira

Looking for the perfect Easter Sunday dress? Ivalde’s new release Zaira is a fabulously enchanting step into the bloom of Spring fashion. Fresh as a Spring Daisy, Neferia Abel has once again drawn inspiration from the fabulous 1950’s to provide a look that is both current and classically elegant. Available in six of the softest pastel colours, this lovely sundress features a peplum top of period faithful eyelet fabric. Cool, easy to wear and lovely as a pastoral setting, in the shades of eggshell dyes from peach to sky blue to a canary yellow to mint (seen here) and more. Add a delicate set of jewelry and you are set for a comfortable holiday day. Oh and don’t forget the wedding season is upon us soon and Zaira is a perfect choice for that celebration too!

Demure Delights Modest Maisie

Maisie & Demure

Despite my rl and sl youthful appearance, i have an secret affection – (some might say affliction) Seq’s comment – for 1950’s fashion, especially when Nef drops a very special design from that era on the News board at Ivalde. My mind wanders as i daydream of sockhops, riding with the top down to the drive-in, poodle skirts and Débutante balls with visions of crinolines and proper heels. Looking back it seems there was an unspoken code that everyone followed, to always be perfectly pressed and appropriately dressed. One simply wouldn’t venture out without checking makeup and being sure that everything matched just so. Sure, we can giggle now at the TV shows of that era that presented the perfectly prim housewife (i.e. Domestic Engineer) bustling about the kitchen looking like she is about to host a tea party (i.e. Girls only afternoon parties with crust off sandwiches and no alcohol). Oh and lets not forget the ever classic look >coughs< of vacuuming while wearing pearls.

So when the new Maisie dress appeared at Ivalde all these notions floated thru my head. A delightfully demure little dress, faithful to the spirit of the fifties, fashioned in the perfect silks with all the fine period accurate detail we have come to expect from Nef. The bodice embroidery and lines of the folds are simply astonishing. And Nef even provides the perfect pair of 7 button gloves.

Finesmith Demure

Wihin moments of opening the box, containing this lovely creation and pondering the styling, I received a notice from Finesmith Jewelry. Yula Finesmith had just released a new spring line including a set of incredible jewelry, DEMURE earrings and necklace ! What a perfect name and upon inspection i found they could not be more perfect with this dress. I would be surprised if Yula had been thinking of vintage fifties when she crafted these pieces, as she is such a forward thinking designer. However, they caught my fancy and certainly would have been the talk of the town had they been so available. Coco Chanel said ” Fashion fades but style is forever.” Some designs are timeless – so too are designers with style.

Masked in Mystery

Mystery in Cherry

Why is it that glamour and mystery so often find themselves inextricably linked? Should we consider the rich heritage of imagery found in classic film, of the desires seething behind a bejeweled mask or the mask we create to hide our innermost longings, or should we turn to the words of Richard Le Gallienne.“…mystery is more than half of beauty, the element of strangeness that stirs the senses through the imagination.”

Mystery in Cherry

Either way i found great passion in creating that which could spark the imagination. Poulet Koekamp captures that spirit and excitement with her incredible Mystery in Cherry gown from Purple Moon. Her recipe, lest i keep you in suspense, is to take dramatically lush cherry red fabric, add a generous portion of sensuously sheer black lace, a flair of billowy feather plumage and form into a sensational figure caressing gown that will inspire imagination, illuminating notions of intrigue and desire. Drawing upon that air of romanticism of the Venetians i donned my masquerade mask from AVid,the Raven to complete this glamorous presentation with a flourish. PurpleMoon’s Mystery in Cherry provides the impetus to think of what Oscar Wilde once said, ” This suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.”

52 Weeks of Color: Banana Mania

52 Week Color Challenge - Banana

Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge brought a lot of giggles this week as i searched the grid for those things Banana. Banana Mania brought me to find many whimsical banana avatars and plenty of banana trees, but my search for what i truly wanted was “fruitless”. Hehe sorry couldn’t resist. I finally just took the colour chip Luna provided and got as close as i could in colour and style. In my google searches i came across the Andy Warhol painting used by the Velvet Underground for their Album Peel Slowly and See. What better era to check for the proper Banana color than the sixties! So off to Ivalde to seek my treasure and sure enough in the 1960’s room was the perfect match to the challenge colour chip in the sweet wool Ranka dress designed by Neferia Abel. I added the buttery soft golden Prestige boots from BAX and my NEW +Aurora Borealis+ Dior Twiggy earring set inspired by a the fab slender model herself from a 1960’s fashion photo, and voila i became the quintessential mod girl while having the great joy of the search without of going completely bananas!

Que? Sarah Sarah

Back in a flash . . . (close)

AlaFolie’s recent release Sarah is a thoroughly delightful ensemble which seems to be stirring some genuine excitement, and deservedly so, with fashion watchers around the grid. One can immediately detect the enduring influence of Paul Poiret in the overall design. The exquisite silk peplum vest gives Sarah a strong sense of the post war late 40’s flair which was influenced heavily by disciples of the forward thinking Mr. Poiret. The result is astonishing and plays well to illustrate the meticulous work of the designer, pixivor Allen. In addition to the voil skirt/frou pants version i am wearing, the ensemble includes an elegant long skirt, and a variety of choices (with a matching shoulder bag and coordinating shoes) to enable you to put together your favorite look and variation for everyday or that special occasion.

Ivalde is Back !!!

Spring is in the air!

Ivalde is back! After a total rebuild Ivalde has reopened with a new and historical Norwegian character. The sim is resplendent with natural wonders such as waterfalls and a fjord with a Viking ship and buildings representative of the home nation of owners Neferia Abel and Brumm Bricklin. Standing watch over the sim are monsters of lore such as a rock troll and sea serpent and there is even an occasional ghost sighting of Thora the mansion’s one time matriarch. The best news of all is that during the rebuilding process Neferia was devoting all her time to creating more masterful designs. Her opening day releases included gowns and dresses inspired by fashion eras from the full spectrum of the last century. And she continues even this week later to add even more!

All are so lovely it was hard to decide where to start, but it seemed appropriate to start with one of the earliest designs from the Regency period, the Constance gown. This gorgeous design is rich with luxurious detail, perfectly appointed to this era of elegant refinement, when even a stroll through the spring garden was a formal affair requiring a proper hat and, of course a matching parasol!

I would also have you take notice to what delightful things are on the horizon at +Aurora Borealis+, just a short pleasant walk thru the Norwegian countryside from Ivalde’s main store. The lovely Neferia Cameo set is so perfect with this gown. It is a preview of one of Sequoia Nightfire’s new designs available soon as she bring’s her renewed look once again to her main store on the Ivalde sim.
