Vintage A-wear-ness

Dinner on the Fjord

Thirties fashions have a special allure with even the day dresses drawing the line, detail and embellishment we might expect for more formal attire. Neferia Abel’s “Kahrine” — her latest 1930 inspired dress, reflects that refined styling of the era so very well with the tailored bodice tucks, box pleated skirt and detailed embroidery.

Could it be . . . Sandra Dee?

The “Nora” Dress, the newest addition to Ivalde’s extensive 1950’s Collection is already a hit among our Vintage Fashionistas, and may just prove to be even more popular than the recently retired “Sandy” poodle skirt. It’s all about lace and gathered chiffon and I knew right away that the violet pink color would be my personal favorite. I couldn’t help humming a few tunes from “Grease” as I matched up my kymmie shoes from Lindy in anticipation of a fun fifties evening at Runaround Sue’s.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Red

52 Week Color Challenge - Red

Happy Valentine’s Week! So much red springing up everywhere, so many designs and only a week too choose. When i saw Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge choice for this week it was not at all difficult for me to find a favorite. The Meike, a high waisted button belted skirt, had the perfect shade of red. I had just loved this new vintage look when i saw it arrive with the line of new release separates at Ivalde Vintage Fashion. At once, i envisioned the perfect blouse to match. Dare i suggest, but i did! I shared that i thought it would be lovely if she might create a light pastel blouse with a pin-tuck front and Peter Pan Collar. Omygosh she did it and Voila! The Zella blouse was born! Nef released them in white and a rainbow of lovely pastels just in time for me to showcase this week. The Zella blouse is as perfect as i had imagined it would be! Old Mr Groundhog did not see his shadow so, not too early to dash over to Wanderstill to push spring a bit in their lovely gardens. Besides is it really ever too early to do some spring shopping? ~ kym

52 Weeks of Color Challenge : Blue

Maggie in Blue - for 52 Week Colour Challenge

Neferia Abel is back, and in a 1950’s groove! We are loving it! Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge offered us the perfect opportunity to showcase one of Nef’s newest releases in her collection is the charming little Maggie dress. It’s available in a number of terrific pastels but, since the Colour Challenge this week is blue . . . . and since that happens to be my favorite . . . off we go! When I think fifties I always think of the super period shoes from Evoke, Here we have their Chunk Heel Mary Janes – they not only look good and right for the era but they are sooo comfortable for those long hours on the stand 🙂

Take it from the Top!

…And I just couldn’t resist a bit of departure from era to match up the totally delightful Lady Carrie Hat from Reghan Straaf of Hatpins. It may be a Victorian design but, I really loved the color match and the lace accents, which go so well with the bodice overlay of the Maggie dress. And, it is rather fun to borrow from various eras sometimes! ~kym

Live at the Cotton Club

Live! at the Cotton Club!

One of the fun things about our SL adventure is being able to enjoy the various decades of the past as they are rebirthed in the many wonderful sim designs we have to explore. One of my very favorites is Old Harlem, which captures the rhythm and feel of the jazz era of the twenties so very well. And certainly while exploring there we want to enjoy the wonderful fashions of the period. So off to Ivalde, where we will always find the finest in historical fashion! And, while the choices of many delightful dresses from the Roaring Twenties make the decision difficult, the new Alvilda seemed just right for this visit. Just across the lake from Ivalde, I found Sequoia’s wonderful long Serenity knotted pearls at Aurora Borealis Jewelry (ABJ). Almost ready – ahh yes, the Ribbon Slingbacks from Evoke are the perfect shoes to dance the night away at the Cotton Club. ~ Kym
