There’s just something about the Tango

Tango Time!

Whether you have legs curled in a dimly lit, smoky club in Buenos Aires, or you are curled up at home with a glass of fine wine watching Dancing With the Stars, the Tango captures the imagination. It’s a steamy dance that just radiates mystery and sensuality. Poulet Koenkamps’s new release from PurpleMoon Creation exemplifies that mood so very well! The spicy hot little Malena dress is not one to wear if you want to sit still, it just begs to go dancing. The hat, cuffs and tie I am wearing are actually accessories from Tangorize Me, another new release PurpleMoon outfit. I thought they added sort of a fanciful and intriguing touch to this totally flirty feminine dress. The Malena invites you to play to create your own imaginative scenario and make it a reality.

Tango Time!

I love this Bella hair that i purchased sometime back from I Love Olive, unfortunately that store closed. However, the designer, Prosperitus Nakamura who now goes by the nomme de plume, Mrs. Amour, is back and has a new store Pomme d Amour. Perhaps you can persuade her to bring the Bella back 🙂

Raves for Meiling

O'er the foamy sea

Let’s start from the top with a topper! Couture Chapeau has been making hats in SL for a a very long time and we have featured wide selection of CC hats including the one Sequoia is keeping the sun at bay with, the La Loren Firenze Chapeau. What many don’t realize is that there are very strong ties in both RL and SL between Couture Chapeau and the Meiling Couture brand. It was at the invitation of CC owner and designer, Chigadee London, which brought Meiling to Second Life and with Chigadee’s and her partner Balthazar Fouroux’s perseverance Meiling has continued to astonish, enjoying rave reviews for the Second Life interpretations of her real world hit collection, Grand Riviere. Sequoia is wearing the centerpiece of this collection – the Sea Foam Gown. Tosy Xue’s wonderful bracelet & nail sets, MagnaMater in gold, and the Memorial Love Pearl necklace & earring set, both from WTG offer a splendid adornment to this stunning outfit.

O'er the foamy sea

The Sea Foam gown is soft and delightfully feminine, the colour and fabric textures enhance the stunning cut of this cool summer dream. The deep cut ruffled top features a nearly bare back, perfect for those sultry summer beach soires. Elegantly matched with a softly flowing full white linen skirt the Sea Foam gown is both airy and seductive.

In all Innocence

The Innocence gown was dedicated to the winner of the June Meiling Styling Award – Tyra Eiren. Delicate lace, tucks and ruffles remind one of the genteel days of afternoon teas and strolls along the boardwalk or in this case “birdwalk”. KymSara was found warbling “these are a few of my favorite things” as she danced among the scattering of heron in this very special gown.

To climb Mt. Plaisir!

Kym also gives a peek at the delicate Mt Plasir, from the most recent Meiling collection, a pure a delight to wear and the perfect choice for summer evening cocktails and dancing under chandeliers or stars. The modest neckline, ruffled sleeves and flowing knee length skirt offer the perfect elegance and gracefulness for the sophisticated taste.

On Cotton Hill

A very joyful Kym had such a fun time styling options with the Cotton Hill tank top and skirt. Initially she found it to be a fantastic casual outfit, just right for a lunch date or a day of shopping. She was delighted to discover that a few simple additions of a favorite Contessa hat from Couture Chapeau, the new Spiral Bracelet from Finesmith and her bright Sydney heels from SLink made this casual cotton confection an easily dressed up bit of brilliance. It is easy to see why this new brand is doing so well in SL.

The Vintage Advantage

Hello Dolly!

Neferia Abel, designer of Ivalde Vintage Fashion and L`Abel has such incredible designs inspired by her personal research of fashion photography, magazines & films, patterns and fabrics from nearly every fashion era since the birth of Haute Couture. There has been a flow exquisite pieces from several historic periods in fashion history since the Ivalde sim was rebuilt to reflect the comfortable surroundings of her native Norway, and we are delighted to share some of these fabulous designs with you. Let us take you now on a journey from Disco to Go-Go.

Hello Dolly!

First up on our itinerary Sequoia is wearing a lovely silk dress that is already destined to become a season favorite for 2011. The Dolly dress is inspired by the shimmery glam disco dresses of the eighties with a timeless attractiveness that will keep it in the spotlight well into the future. This figure hugging gown communicates a sexy sublime elegance, with only the minimal need for further accessoriies.

Ivalde Toril

The Toril Pantsuit from the 70 decade, is a unique period design that can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood and the occasion. Sequoia has chosen a more alluringly sophisticated approach, coming in hot, hot, hot coiffed in her fiery copper Maryam hair from CaTwA and her scorching SEDUCTION XtremeHeel “Galaxy” sandal heels from N-Core.

Ivalde Toril

One of Ivalde’s all-time favorite suits, the Joan, inspired by stlized office wear of the eighties, is back again with a fresh update.

Joan, from the 80's (close)

KymSare looks thoroughly professional, and the Joan has just the look for that interview, or presentation or dinner with someone special. the cropped jacket , contrasting bow and matching wide waist band are indeed reminicent of the 80’s while presenting a sharp fashionable appearance for today’s professional woman.

All That Glitters…Part II

Ala Folie Miss Phillipines, Long with cowl

As you may recall we promised you a peek at the other variations of pixivor Allen’s amazing Miss Phillipines gown, available from Ala Folie. It took us a few days to get back to it, but worth the wait and what fun I had getting them ready!

Ala Folie Miss Phillipines, Long

For the long gown I wore the optional stole to our shoot locale, the home of Lusti Decosta of Decosta Custom Builds. I chose not to add the lovely Fleur attachments with this variation, mostly so that i could better highlight the sensational silouette and detail of the sequinned streamers.

Finesmith Inspiration - Shena

For this particular look the cascade and flow of Yula Finesmith’s Shena Inspiration Set of earrings and necklace seemed to be made to go with the gown. Coincidentally, Yula released her incredible series of Inspiration Jewelry sets just as we were preparing these shoots and i think the combination of the AlaFolie gowns and Finesmith jewelry sets are just magic!

Taylor Inspiration by Finesmith & AlaFolie Miss Phillipines Courte

As i continued to explore the possibilities of the Miss Phillipines gown I found an irresistible set, the Taylor Neckpiece and Bracelet Ensemble! True to the series name, these accessories provided just the right touch of fantasy and inspiration for the presentation of the third variation. If you look real close you will see that i am adorned in the earrings from the Finesmith Rusalka Inspiration set. All of the Finesmith Inspiration Sets are released in a limited edition of 50, so if you are even considering adding them to your fine jewelry case — hurry!

Ala Folie Miss Phillipines Courte & Taylor Inspiration by Finesmith

Ten available Finesmith Inspirations and three delightful AlaFolie gown variations the possibilities seem endless. Did we mention there is a black version of the gown called Diamant Noir to be featured in future Notions of Style posts. We know you’ll enjoy these delightful dilemnas as much as we do!

Elegant Ensembles Part II

Sascha Zephra - Full Ball Gown Variation

Part two of my Elegant ensembles post begins with a beautiful pose and focus on the exquisite J.D-2 ensemble from the creative mind of tosy Xue. WTG has offered many wonderful sets in the past year and this may be the crown jewel. Not only is the J.D-2 ensemble a perfect set to play off the Zephra, but the ensemble options give nearly as much variety, all re-sizable, the ensemble includes choker and necklace styles which can be attached to either spine or chest to enable you to work easily with all clothing attachments, as well as beautiful bracelets for either or both arms, and the most finely detailed earpieces. Exquisite fit and such elegance, the bracelets are such a striking accent to wear over the the soft full length gloves.

Sascha Zephra - Full Ball Gown Variation

The full ball gown variation can be fabulously trimmed in a sheer shawl surrounding the bare shoulders and a hat of the same light material woven into this terribly chic matching hat. Sascha Frangelli has really created the all in one formal ensemble in the Zephra : the perfect little black cocktail dress, to the full ballroom gown with accessories including hat, stockings, gloves, ruffled collar, shawl, and bolero. In these two posts i put together three totally different looks, but could easily have assembled many many more . . . and i will! I will with certainty, turn to this delightful set time and time again for special occasions in the coming season.

Elegant Ensembles Part I

Sascha Zephra - Cocktail Variation

I hardly know where to begin. Sascha Designs new Zephra ensemble is full of so many elegant options it boggles the mind! Sascha Frangelli has just released two sets of a phenomenal dress, in black and white versions, named Zephra. A name from a bygone era of refined privilege, these collections offer so many exciting choices and variations to help you style for any occasion this fashion season and into future! Also featured, the new release from tosy Xue of WTG.

Sascha Zephra - Cocktail Variation

To give you a sense of the possibilities even one dress ensemble can offer is too much to submit in just one blog post. Therefore, we will split into two parts beginning with the cocktail variation, which was the last look i assembled, but is a very good place to start. Brought together are the cocktail skirt, one of over 5 skirt options, the sweetheart backless top and the wonderfully constructed bolero, shown with the choker version of J.D-2 jewel set from WTG.

tosy Xue’s newly released J.D-2 ensemble is a perfect counterpoint to the Zephra, with nearly as many options including choker and necklace styles which can be attached to either spine or chest to enable you to work easily with all the clothing attachments as well as beautiful bracelets for either or both arms, and the most finely detailed earpieces i have seen lately!

Sascha Zephra - Long Strapless Variation

Next is the long strapless variation i felt was just the sort of simple elegant formal that fits in so many occasions. This time i introduce the J.D-2 full length necklace from WTG. See what wonderful lines this gown has from every side. The back cutaway is curved to the waist and ultra sexy. The possibilities of accessories is endless, i love how the J.D-2 bracelet looks against the soft full length gloves. Stay tuned for a third variation tomorrow 🙂

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Ecru

52 Week Color Challenge - Ecru

Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge this week brought Ecru, a color from the palette i am most happy to see. There is a gown from Ranena Olivier Couture (ROC) that was released a few months ago i had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to showcase. The Delilah gown was worth the wait to find the right accessories and hair to give the complete look i was hoping for. ROC’s Delilah gown comes with both long and short skirt options and a delicate lace overskirt with some wispy tendrils which simply float with your every move. It is an elegant formal look which merits the addition of AlienBear Design’s fabulous Kielo jewelry set.

52 Week Color Challenge - Ecru

I was thrilled to also be able to add La Fleur Rose, one of the new dramatic couture nail designs, which include the bangles and rings, offered as part of the incredibly detailed jewelry line created by tosy Xue of WTG. And finally as you probably know that i am dedicated follower of Damselfly Hair and hope you will indulge my calling your attention to one of the latest in their expanding line of hairbase styles. The Necy is a perfect match to the Deliah gown both softly feminine and elegantly formal. To give just the perfect attitude i was able to pick up some new poses from Morgane Batista Pose Shop during the grand opening of her new shop. Such a wonderful combination – all worth waiting for.~kym

ALEIDA of the Pack

ALEIDA Valentina shot

Are you a current or aspiring model of color? Unique? A trendsetter? A designer’s dream? Meticulous in your styling and fierce on the catwalk? Grace under pressure? Willing to push yourself to be the best? Are YOU “MISS EBONY INTERNATIONAL 2011”?!

These are some of the words i have been seeing about a new exciting competition to beginning very very soon. Sounds quite intriguing, especially when i hear of the rumours of the prizes and possible entry into another rather famous competition that comes with winning the title. All i know for sure is that the skin makers of SL had better brace themselves because the demand for ethnic skins is going to increase considerably.

Good thing Aleida Rhode has taken a step in the right direction with her promotional fair skin ALEIDA Valentina, which is only available as an exclusive at the fair. The Valentina skin is available in 5 different skin tones: Nougat, Dark Tan, Tan, Sunkiss, and Pale (all in the picture below). The skin includes hairbases, freckles, and cleavage options.

Today i have captured the essence of Aleida’s creation in the statuesque form of someone who might be competing for the MISS EBONY INTERNATIONAL 2011. I have chosen L`Abel’s Nana black jumpsuit for a nice out around casual look, for the accessories [MANDALA] TAKARA bangles and Avion lashes rest and blend so nicely to the ALEIDA skin. The hair you may recognize as PurpleMoon’s Ana, but i have altered some to suit my mood and look. The Stilleto Moody Bare Ava Gold in black are the perfect choice for this ensemble to rise over. A perfect look for the ebony got it together model.

The ALEIDA Valentina skins are available during the Skin Fair 2011 which runs through March 6th, 2011.

Pictures from an Exhibition: Georgia O’Keefe

At the Exhibition III

Today is the third in the exhibition series and what fun i have had doing it! Lady Thera has created some incredible dresses, gaining inspiration from paintings of some of the worlds greatest artists! This latest outfit, Georgia O’Keefe dress provoked the comment “what wonderful colours!” to my flickr posting. That simple comment set me to thinking about the migration of thought and creativity and the many hands each piece of art passes through to be reinterpreted by each who add their own personality. Georgia O’Keefe synthesized the colors she observed in nature through brush strokes on a canvas . Lady Thera found insiration from a painting to create the pixel fabric and form for this impressive gown. I merely recognized their creativity and captured an image to share. Well maybe not quite so simple, surely i exerted a little influence on how you see the images presented. I couldn’t resist a bit of experimenting;the gown is so light and ethereal that it wasn’t difficult to envision leaves floating on the breeze, as in the O’Keefe painting, and i hope i have been able capture at least a small part of vitality of the artist’s vision. ~kym

Pictures from an Exhibition: William Turner

At the Exhibition II (5)

Today we feature another design of Thera Taurog. This is the second in our series of looks at the style of Lady Thera. This artistic inspiration is derived from one of Thera’s favorite William Turner paintings. The gown itself is a wonderful loose-weave knit with chiffon overskirts and back drape, all reflecting the colors, light and shading of the objet d`arte. Thera has included short matching gloves and a sensational complementary hat to complete the ensemble.

At the Exhibition II (7)

Among the many spectacular gowns in this series, this is one of my very favorites. I recently wore this delightful ensemble to a ladies tea and received several very flattering comments. It is such a perfect outfit for those sort of occasions. I added, for just the right bit of mated elegance, Audrey earrings from Aurora Borealis and Bare Brigitte shoes from Stiletto Moody.~kym
