Fashion For Life – 55L Friday and more!

Just outside Kyoto

Special event running at Fashion for Life today only, Friday March 16th, is the 55L Friday Sale. Many designers have discounted many of their items to only 55L. Some like Schön have made an exclusive item to sell for just today!!! The “Sei” [White] Kimono gown is just that, only 55L! and exclusive! This is an amazing kimono to reduce to such a ridiculously low price. As a designer i do understand though, we want to offer our best to get you to come see all the wonderful things we have made especially as donations to Relay for Life, so come see and grab some bargains while helping the American Cancer Society find the cure.

Song of a Nightingale

This ensemble in teal by Schoen called Klita is both edgy and feminine and emphasized nicely by the coiffure. Vanity Hair has done some special hair for FFL and always specially cutting edge. When i put this outfit together with the lace jacket and saw this hair with the teal highlights i thought “why not!” I love how the braid curves around the neck and the flourish of the pompadour of the Nightingale in Jet black definitely sends a message that you are going to “sing” when you go out on the town and into the nightlife. The MEB ensemble is interesting too with the big silver buttons across the breast give a urban appeal and the lace jacket keeps it feminine.

Aphrodite Enchanting

Finally i finish with the dress named Aphrodite from SYSY’s. Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and it was a pleasure to be able to add the items from Ecletica to this look. The Little Black Pillbox set includes the veiled hat that is menu driven to allow feathers and pearl accents. The gloves are textured so wonderfully and were a perfect match to SYSY’s Aphrodite dress. We all know what a difficult thing it is to match up hair for hats, but Tabata of Vanity hair has made this wonderful hair named Romance for FFL that works so well to fit this outfit!

Catch the train for more Meiling

So lovely in Balandra in the fall

Meiling’s Collection, Last Train to San Fernando, inspired by the Johnny Duncan tune from the late 50’s, is amazing in the post modern minimalist sense…her designs are incredibly sophisticated while maintaining a certain simplicity. This collection covers the spectrum of style for the modern day active woman while paying homage to the past of the traveling, forward thinking adventurer ready to meet challenges of the fashion frontier. Today we will show some of the cotton, chiffon and silk outfits, then tomorrow expand into the gingham and plaids of this wonderfully rich collection.

The Balandra
Very clever pattern work and tatting are revealed upon close look at this fabulous ensemble. The detail is exceptional considering the shape and silhouette maintain a very uncomplicated and unquestionably flattering contour to move with your body. Perhaps the most notable thing to appreciate about a ‘deceptively simple’ Meiling outfit is that she has given a lot of thought to creating separate options which allow the wearer the freedom to style in a way that suits their own personality.

I selected an accent set of my Vintage Beads in Argyle green from my designs at +Aurora Borealis+ to add with some of my favorite Cassandra Heels from SLink for a kicky overall look that could go anywhere from an early fall jaunt to the flower show or to the city for a shopping outing with your best friend and still have enough sass to meet that special someone for a midnight opening of a new wave art performance.

Dawn @ Macaripe

Dawn at Macaripe
Kym grabbed this lovely little chiffon top immediately when we were reviewing the collection! Which was no surprise to me because Meiling said herself, when she showed me a preview, that she fully expected that Kym would look fabulous in it. As a separate, this piece could be matched nicely with a dark skirt or trousers or, as she has done here, with a pair of lace trimmed tights for a more dressed up look.

Dawn @ Macaripe

Near the time of the Meiling collection release, tosy Xue also had a new release of his amazing Drops-S jewelry set from WTG — a perfectly delightful accent to the soft flowing lines to the Dawn at Macaripe.

Your Path is Red!

Your Path is Red
From the upturned collar to the lace-up bodice to the billows of silk of the skirt it’s all about the RED! The Your Path is Red really doesn’t need a whole lot of explanation it just is! Any woman will definitely be immediately the focus of attention when making her entrance in this stunning dress!

Your Path is Red!

The stylishly tossed coiffure, Folie d’Ete-Soil, from Vanity Hair and a bit of contrasting accent color from my Rainbow Bangles from +Aurora Borealis+ add just the right spice to this fiery mix.

It's Tea Time!

Tea & Crumpets
With deep folds and a crisp linen flare Meiling’s Tea Time Stop handkerchief skirt is just the right look for that mid-afternoon garden gathering. Topped with the soft pastel Crumpets & Cream Blouse the ensemble is set off brilliantly with a bold satin sash in flowery orange. Kym looks fresh and delectably sassy, as she heads off to meet her dear friends for afternoon Tea.

It's Tea Time!

Shoe designer and friend, Delinda Abbott, has created some wonderful flexibility in her Lindy Modern and Retro Shoes. The Kymmie pumps, strong name resemblance to the wearer is no coincidence :), offers color change of all prims which allowed her to easily pick up the colors of the Tea & Crumpets outfit for a head to toe complete look. This is one train you won’t want to miss…

Last train to San Fernando, last train to San Fernando
If you miss the one, you’ll never get another one
Bee-dee-dee-dee-bom-bom to San Fernando.

Evenings In Black

tosy's Kaleidoscopes

Happy Anniversary to our friend Tosy Xue of WTG!!! Tosy is officially entering his second year as a SL designer and you would think him much more mature by the sophistication of his jewelry designs. The Kaleidoscope sets of jewelry and nails are exquisitely detailed. We have already featured the long necklace in dazzling platinum with medallion pendant in a previous post, today will showcase the black set of the earrings, choker necklace and bejeweled nails with bracelet set. Sequoia adores the intricate filigree of this set and opted for the medallion earrings and choker necklace; the delicate design of the Kaleidoscope set will enhance and evening wear where you demand a certain unique elegance.

Midnight at Maracas Gown by Meiling

As we return to showcasing the fabulous collection of Meiling Couture designs, we focus on the “New Reality” in SL fashion we have spoken of in previous posts. You need only look to the fabric of the sateen and ruffles, with fine detail in every fold and crease, to see the exquisitely unique recreation of a real life gown in the Midnight in Maracas worn by KymSara. The evening wear from Meiling is consistent in the theme of exceptional design we found in the casual wear and dresses, which could be worn in either dressy or more casual modes. Meiling uses only the finest fabrics and pays close attention to detail with an emphasis on comfort and unique styling. Kym selected the smaller double elemment earrings of the Kaleidoscope set from WTG to compliment the softer look of the Midnight gown.

Midnight at Maracas Gown by Meiling

Kym found the soft silks and chiffon overlay and frills of the Midnight at Maracas Gown to be irresitable. Meiling has used a similar wrinkle-pleated silk skirt design with both of the gowns featured, but achieves distinctively different looks with her use of finely textured bodice elements.

Meiling's Silk, Satin & Chifffon

Sequoia is wearing Meiling’s fabulous Haute Noire Gown which features a layered, wrinkle-pleated silk skirt and a peplum jacket top. The trim contours, wide satin waistband, and sheer collar are unique design details which will definitely merit a second and third look at your next formal event. Whichever choice you make, Meiling’s wearable elegance is sure to become your favorite look for that special evening event and many more to come! We also want to give a big shout-out to Tabata Jewell for her creation of her NEW Folie d’Ete hair from Vanity Hair. I am sure we will be seeing this beautiful coiffure styled to much of the seasons elegant creations this season.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Teal

Out of the Mists (close)

Another week in Luna’s Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge took a little longer in the search for just the right Teal, but was a wonderful distraction from the late winter blahs. The perfect teal turned my thoughts to Caribbean waves caressing the warm white sands and tropical flora surrounding me. To my delight i found the perfect fit to my daydream at Tres Beau! Kimmera Madison’s Maali would be stunning in any color but, took my breath away in the soft shimmering teal. A floral pattern woven into oceans of fabric this gown Maali is swimmingly divine.

Part of the fun of this was experimenting with different makeups. So many available options and with the right viewer you can continue to add lashes eyeliners, eyeshadows, hairbases, lipsticks in tatoo layers. The perfect match to my look in Teal was from one of the first to experiment in this and still one of the absolute best LovelyMiwako7399 Menna. Le Bleu Simplicite by Lovely Mi Make-ups was the perfect shade and cover i was looking for. The Labrodite and Moonstone stones of the Zahra set from Earthstones Jewelry added some flair and contrast to the theme. And finally I choose Tabata Jewell’s gorgeous new hair BLUSH vainille, available at Vanity Hair, seeing it as the perfect crown to this study in teal. The Maali dress is such a dream! So much so, it inspired Kym to paint me into the ethereal surroundings of coming out of the mists. ~seq
