MASAI MARA Closing September 30th

This may be your final warning to run over and get these designs from some of Second Life’s most amazing designers at Masai Mara: The Solidarity Store, many which are exclusive to this event! It is rare that so many ethinicallly and geographically selective items are available in one spot so better grab now before they go poof tomorrow at midnight. So many have sung you the praises of this charity and the orphaned children it will help. So…. i will only gently remind you that you will be helping those who have so little and you will look fabulous in the process of doing so.

Sequoia has chosen the brilliant colours of the Serengeti outfit and turban by Tres Beau to close out her african continental experience. The mesh harmem pants have a wonderful hip hugging fit and the disc hoop earrings and bracelet set is a spot on match to the flow of vivid hues and patterns of the turban to the top to the pants bringing a beautiful balance and exposure of skin. What a delicious way to show off the exclusive skin Delirio from Yoa Divine Spell.

KymSara has gone a different route returning to that which is familiar, showing off how well the cocktail dress Arusha, an EXCLUSIVE from Tres Beau at Masai Mara, can bring a wild flair back to our western evening wear. What a pity this dress will not be available beyond tomorrow. Even more the reason to rush over and include it in your Tres Beau collection before it goes back to Kimmera’s closet for good. Kym ever the world traveler added Tosy Xue’s Bamboo Ensemble from WTG showing off her love of picking up the rarest beautiful items she can mix and match.

Paris Eiffel Autumn Fashion Show Parade – Sneak Preview

Rose RFB Morpork will formally debut five new fall gowns from Paris Metro Couture in a beautiful seasonal event at the Paris Eiffel Tower tomorrow September 21st. This marvelous collection is already on display at the Paris Metro Main Store in the beautiful Paris 1900 sim. Each of the gowns is so unique and finely detailed, making selecting just one an impossible task! The Gold Leaf gown captures the spirit of the autumn breeze in an exquisite multi-layered silk and chiffon design with a maple leaf shaped accent piece at the waist and bodice. The early fall colours are breathtaking and the gown responds to even the fairest breeze.

Rose continues her creative “Storybook Series” line with a very special design titled “The Peacock’s Complaint,” inspired by the Aesop fable of the glorious bird who found no joy in his beauty and complained bitterly about his raspy voice. This tale seeks to teach us to make the most of what we have and not to envy the gifts of others. This highly detailed gown is is made from imported metallic thread embedded silk from the Far East, fashioned to capture the colour and grace of the peacock feathers.

While I still cannot pick a favorite from among these designs, I must include the incredible Le Linen Rose II among my top picks. The delicate and sheer lines of this graceful gown and the remarkable detail work, including the rose theme ebroidery, will make this one of my fall favorites. I was also delighted to discover how well the NEW Aphrodite Bronze Ensemble, from Vendome Jewelry, fit with this gown . . . and to emphasize the regal look even a bit more . . . i chose a few of the NEW Princess Poses from PosESioN, which are part of their gift for the Runway Perfect Hunt, starting October 1.

Show begins at 3pm slt at Patch Thibaud Auditorium. Below is a preview of the set design created by Sequoia Nightfire, who will also walk in the Solo Evane sponsored event. The model in the photos overlooking the audience is Starline Igeria, the founder of this event. Showing her humbleness, she was rather shocked to see Sequoia had placed, without her knowledge, her beautiful african queen photo, framing the runway. She spoke of the group effort all that have been involved in putting this all together and looked forward to sharing her thanks personally today with all involved and who have contributed.

Shall we dance?

The latest release from AlaFolie is the darling little Marilyn dress. Reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties flapper outfits, it will have you heading to the nearest vintage club for an evening of dancing and fun. But wait — haven’t we all been a trifle frustrated when we hit the dance floor in that great looking new mesh dress and as soon as we start to dance we expose those invisible bod parts that were vanished in the alpha mask? Pixivor Allen has figured a new technique for mesh designs that does not require using an alpha mask and, will allow you complete motion freedom with no exposure of those icky missing body sections! Yay Pixi!! I am sure we will see additional delightful designs from AlaFolie using this approach, but meanwhile I am thoroughly enjoying the Marilyn. I’d say more but I must run along to the club 🙂

From lace to jeans

Poulet Koenkamp, of PurpleMoon Creations, has just released this fresh little dress in a variety of tempting colors. The Blair is simply  a must have addition for your late summer – fall wardrobe. Whether you select one of the soft pastels, or the darker shades, you will find that this design is flexible enough to work as either a comfortable, trendy and feminine look for a day of shopping with the girls, as well as a dressy date night option.

I enjoyed discovering a new designer this week – Vendome Jewelry has recently opened, and offers some really unique pieces worthy of your consideration. I am wearing the Flora ensemble which includes earrings, bracelet, ring and a very interesting necklace. As you can see the necklace is not your typical chain or vine design but, looks very much like a gold ribbon collar. The workmanship on this set is exceptional, and i confidently predict we will be seeing a lot of Vendome Jewelry on the SL runways accenting the work of many haute designers.

Fiercely Regal is the Jaguar

Starline Igeria’s MASAI MARA: The Solidarity Store has some exciting surprises to share, all with the specific purpose of benefiting children of Kenya. All benefits from the store go to the KIBERA YOUTH INITIATIVE – MAMA TUNZA PROJECT which provides a home for about 200 children, most of whom are orphans of HIV/AIDS or come from single parent homes.

Many of SL’s finest designers have responded to this challenge with both generosity and creative vision. Kimmera Madison Fall of Tres Beau has created an exclusive gown named Jaguar, for this event, which is truly worthy of African Monarchy. Drawing influence from the feline grace of the jaguar and the traditional wrap lines of formal African regional attire, this gown is both fierce and alurring in its use of fabrics and animal prints.

Sleek lines and detailed stictching embrace the shared world order of the preditory cat, as rosettes of the Jaguar are set against spots of the Leopard, it’s African cousin. The gown is appropriately named Jaguar, although a South American cat, the jaguar is a common symbol of strength and power much as the leopard. There is a spiritual connection between them and thus a continental and universal appeal that will fill you with a sense of control of all you survey. The jaguar is one of the rarest cats and so is the gown and you must not let it slip through your fingers. The “Jaguar” from Tres Beau is an exclusive only at MASAI MARA: The Solidarity Store so you might want to snare it before it becomes extinct.

Meiling and CC Celebrate Independence — 24 hours collection

A lot happened over at the Vade Mecum sim this weekend. RL designer Meiling and her friend and SL collaborator Chigadee London were celebrating their country of Trinidad and Tobago’s 50th year of Independence! If you rush over you might still be able to take advantage of the special 50% off sale on Couture Chapeau hats before Chigs sends them back to full price. Kym and i saw that the colours of the leaves were changing and beginning to fall on our walk between the stores so, we slipped into what are nicely transitional summer to autumn shades to showcase from Meiling’s 24 hours collection.

The 24 hours Collection is all about fun with fashion. Little unexpected touches and whimsical texture and fabric choices give these designs a special appeal. Sequoia chose the contrasting layered look of the Meet Me in Afrika Gingham Dress topping it off with new hat from Couture Chapeau. Kymsara found the asymmetric cut of the Whiskey Sours Blouse & Skirt to be just the right look for a fun evening at the Beach Club. And once again we both grabbed for the box of Tosy’s latest jewelry – “Mid-Summer Enesmble.” It was just too difficult to decide which outfit was best with this jewelry sooo, we compromised and both wore it! What a nice way to celebrate!
