For Fabulous Ensemble … Add Baiastice, Sprinkle Generously with L’accessoires

Sis is sophisticated too!

Shopping opportunities abound this month! Not only are we enjoying the grand opening of the new unique shopping experience L’acessoires, but Vintage Fair 2012 is also in full swing. Sequoia was thrilled to find the perfect jewelry set at L’accessoires from PurpleMoon – Venice 16 Stones – to match her new Vintage Fair “Origami Suit” from Baiastice. Of course she had to pick up the fatpack of the Santigold, those fabulous pumps in mesh also in the Baiastice booth at the fair.

The Oragami suit by Baiastice has several shades of marvelous to suit any complexion. KymSara is wearing the orange which goes so nicely with her new Wasabi Pills hair and it appears she also found those Santigold mesh pumps with optional ankle strap from Baiastice irresistible.

There’s just something about the Tango

Tango Time!

Whether you have legs curled in a dimly lit, smoky club in Buenos Aires, or you are curled up at home with a glass of fine wine watching Dancing With the Stars, the Tango captures the imagination. It’s a steamy dance that just radiates mystery and sensuality. Poulet Koenkamps’s new release from PurpleMoon Creation exemplifies that mood so very well! The spicy hot little Malena dress is not one to wear if you want to sit still, it just begs to go dancing. The hat, cuffs and tie I am wearing are actually accessories from Tangorize Me, another new release PurpleMoon outfit. I thought they added sort of a fanciful and intriguing touch to this totally flirty feminine dress. The Malena invites you to play to create your own imaginative scenario and make it a reality.

Tango Time!

I love this Bella hair that i purchased sometime back from I Love Olive, unfortunately that store closed. However, the designer, Prosperitus Nakamura who now goes by the nomme de plume, Mrs. Amour, is back and has a new store Pomme d Amour. Perhaps you can persuade her to bring the Bella back 🙂

Flirty to elegant . . . and beyond

Cocktails in the Garden

Oh to be in Paris in the springtime!!!
Cabin fever got the best of us for a bit, but with the Ides of March and bikini season soon approaching it is time have a Caesar salad and do a bit of holiday catch-up…not “ketchup”, ewww that would taste terrible on the salad. Anyway… Let’s begin our trip back in time with a visit to Paris Metro! I have always found Rose’s designs to be most innovative, so very wearable and well matched to the way we move. She has consistently brought fresh approaches to SL fashion in the line of her designs, as well as her choice of fabrics and fine textures.

Cocktails in the Garden

I just love the subtle animal print she chose for the Tu An Animal Panther Cocktail dress. That big cat’s eyes seem just right with the flirty off-the-shoulder look of this little dress. The long sheer gloves, from the same fabric as the bodice overlay, are a perfect accent. I’ve just added the Ruby Pepite earrings from Orage Couture’s 2010 Christmas Collection and matching Sydney Stiletto’s from SLink and let my hair go appropriately loose with the new Darilynn from Damselfly.

Blue Magic

Changing the mood a bit from flirty to elegant, the Arabian Magic gown from Paris Metro is the perfect choice for that most formal evening with someone special. Once again Rose has followd the inspiration of the most amazing gold embellished fabric to highlight the daring lines of her seductive and sophisticated design. Tosy Xue’s incredibly intricate Plume Jewelry Collection compliments this look so well. And, of course, pulling my hair back with Amacci’s Rona updo adds the finishing touch.

In the Misty Moonlight . . .

Sometimes elegance comes in softly! As in the case of the Flower Flamingo Gown, one of Paris Metro’s latest releases. Dreamy and like floating on a cloud, this gown is perfect for dancing in the moonlight whether on the aft deck of a cruise ship or barefoot on your favorite beach. And once again tosy Xue delivers the perfect jewelry to capture the subtle reflections of that moonlight in his fabulous Luce Della Notte Scura set.

Dusk in the wood

Yes there is even more! Yet another example of her magical creative skills with diverse materials, Rose combined a a seductively flared top with a soft leather corset and  the sheerest float of a long skirt in her aptly named Leather & Sheer Gown. What a delightful and unexpected combination! My new Hearts Aflame jewelry ensemble from Chop Zuey seemed to be just the right match.
I hope you have enjoyed our little excursion to Paris Metro, be sure to wave to Rose when you pop over 🙂 emmm popovers, wonders if i should be writing about such yummy designs when i am so hungry?

Joan is Fashionably Late!

Joan is Fashionably Late!

Joan has definitely chosen well to be Fashionably Late… Keira Seerose of Chic Management has recently opened a new sim where she is hosting a NEW weekly event called Fashionably Late. The event highlights guest designers who will offer NEW and EXCLUSIVE items at the Fashionably Late venue for one week. Participant designers may offer these special items in their stores after the event but they will go to full retail price, so the savvy fashionista will want to visit Fashionably Late each week to pick up the specially priced items. This week Joan from Ivalde is avalable for only 99 lindens as part of the Fashionably Late event.

Joan is Fashionably Late!

Neferia Abel has created a very special brocade pattern just for Fashionably Late. Joan is one of my personal favorite dresses, and this edition is no exception. Joan, while retaining that vintage feel is perfectly current for that unique dressy look, featuring a trim bolero jacket and custom pleated to form skirt. I wanted to have a contemporary up-to-date look so i went with brand new Serenity Heels from Purrfect 10, Tosy Xue’s Kaleidoscope earrings and bracelet from WTG, and JeSuis Naive nails in silver. Keeping with the modern and realistic theme, i chose Caitrin style hair from Exile. The NEW line of Roots Hair Styles have created quite a bit of excitement and i am definitely a fan. As the name suggests, they feature a shaded option in contrasting color for an amazingly realistic appearance. Of course if you are not inclined to show your roots, you can choose the main color

Joan is Fashionably Late!

The designs and invited designers at Fashionably Late will change each week, beginning at 4pm SLT on Sunday and will close on the following Sunday at approximately 9am SLT. TP to the Fashionably Late weekly event HERE

Country Chic: Florals

Country Chic - Summer Pantsuit - NEW! from L`Abel

The excitement continues at Ivalde and L`Abel as the word of the special new L`Abel Country Chic Summer Collection splashes on the fashion scene like a beautiful sun shower offering refreshment for the body and soul. Cool comfortable lace, ruffles and florals are the order of the day this summer fashion season. We have already highlighted a some of the lace frosted and hemmed confections of this collection, now let’s have a look at two of the delightful florals.

Counrtry Country Chic - Summer Pantsuit - NEW! from L`Abel

Seq predictably grabbed the Summer Pantsuit in seagreen floral print and is stunning and at ease in the knee length loose-fitting pants and layered strapless top. The picture hardly does justice to any of the Country Chic Collection you must see the impeccable detail to really appreciate ! Tosy Xue really seems to be on a roll creatively as his nails most often are the manicure of choice, this time Seq is wearing the Magna Mater in platinum from WTG. Ever alert to spot a special exquisitely made jewelry design, Sequoia also discovered a wonderful bracelet called Friendo at The Hive when she was buzzing the grid. Of course she bought the necklace too but will save that for another time 🙂

Moonlight becomes her . . .

As you may have already guessed, when it comes to florals Kym would seek the sweetest and loveliest flowing full skirted dress. Savanna features all the summery hues of pink, purple and blue that are certain to capture the attention of the entire garden grid. Cool comfort is a bonus feature of this lovely dress. It moves with the softest summer breezes to reveal the delicate Belgian lace underskirt. This, of course, was the perfect excuse for Kym to run to Hatpins for a new summer hat to match! (as if she really needs an excuse!) Reghan Straaf always has a super selection of vintage inspired hats which work beautifully with actual period dresses or as a special finishing touch to todays most modern ensembles. It was a challenge to decide, but the Lady Zarah seemed a perfect choice for a midnite stroll in the meadow.

Demure Delights Modest Maisie

Maisie & Demure

Despite my rl and sl youthful appearance, i have an secret affection – (some might say affliction) Seq’s comment – for 1950’s fashion, especially when Nef drops a very special design from that era on the News board at Ivalde. My mind wanders as i daydream of sockhops, riding with the top down to the drive-in, poodle skirts and DĂ©butante balls with visions of crinolines and proper heels. Looking back it seems there was an unspoken code that everyone followed, to always be perfectly pressed and appropriately dressed. One simply wouldn’t venture out without checking makeup and being sure that everything matched just so. Sure, we can giggle now at the TV shows of that era that presented the perfectly prim housewife (i.e. Domestic Engineer) bustling about the kitchen looking like she is about to host a tea party (i.e. Girls only afternoon parties with crust off sandwiches and no alcohol). Oh and lets not forget the ever classic look >coughs< of vacuuming while wearing pearls.

So when the new Maisie dress appeared at Ivalde all these notions floated thru my head. A delightfully demure little dress, faithful to the spirit of the fifties, fashioned in the perfect silks with all the fine period accurate detail we have come to expect from Nef. The bodice embroidery and lines of the folds are simply astonishing. And Nef even provides the perfect pair of 7 button gloves.

Finesmith Demure

Wihin moments of opening the box, containing this lovely creation and pondering the styling, I received a notice from Finesmith Jewelry. Yula Finesmith had just released a new spring line including a set of incredible jewelry, DEMURE earrings and necklace ! What a perfect name and upon inspection i found they could not be more perfect with this dress. I would be surprised if Yula had been thinking of vintage fifties when she crafted these pieces, as she is such a forward thinking designer. However, they caught my fancy and certainly would have been the talk of the town had they been so available. Coco Chanel said ” Fashion fades but style is forever.” Some designs are timeless – so too are designers with style.

Supper Club Sparkle

Elie Dress

Those of you who know me are aware of my love for vintage styles. When i spotted the Elie dress at PurpleMoon it seemed to me reminiscent of the wide flared skirts of Mom’s era. Updated with a thoroughly modern, glittery, print fabric Poulet Kohlenkamp has come up with a very special creation which is just perfect for supper at the club, with a bit of dancing after. I love that she has maintained the vintage flavor with the contrasting sash at the bodice and the floral shoulder bow. The Audrey earrings from Aurora Borealis Jewelry (ABJ) add to the sparkle of this lovely ensemble.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Sienna

Sedona Star (1) - Color Challenge Sienna

Can you believe we are already into week ten of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge ? This week’s color, Sienna, reminded me of a visit to Sedona, Arizona and the incredibly vibrant hues at the end of the day as the last rays of sunshine basked across desert canyon. That vision was so powerful it provided me inspiration for another of my loves, quilting. My Sedona Star quilt, shown here in background, is a pixel version of the sewn version i created of lush fabrics in my other life. I digress, but not entirely, because i want you to understand my fascination with fabrics, color and texture, and how they all work in harmony, is certainly important when choosing what i am drawn to blog.

Once again Neferia Abel offers up the perfect design! Her luscious velvet Nadine gown, from the Ivalde 1930 Collection, captures the light as dramatically as those canyon walls but, with a softer more intimate glow. The contours of this gown while straight from the fashion pages of the thirties, are oppulently appropriate for the most fashionable event of 2011. ~kym

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Silver

52 Week color Challenge - Silver

A New Year to ring in and I was so ready! I was simply overjoyed to see this week for Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge she had chosen SILVER! I had already selected a silver ensemble for my New Year’s Eve look from Ranena Olivier Couture (ROC) so was thrilled i would get to showcase specially for the challenge one of Ranena Olivier’s newest releases ROSELYN. Roselyn is a multi-option outfit which features a sequin jacket that just called out to me when i saw it! My plans for this special New Year’s Eve of course included some ballroom activity, so it was easy to settle on the scrumptious jacket and long dreamy chiffon skirt, the skirt virtually floated on the dance floor giving me the feeling of walking on air. Ranena includes in the set a shorter skirt, and some lovely sequinned pants and a vest option.

52 Week color Challenge - Silver (Close)

Carrying the silver theme further, i chose the new Finesmith Dimensiions jewelry set to complete the look. Hidden away under the skirt above, but elegantly visible during the twirls on the dance floor were Norman Maroon’s Paris boots, from FM Shoes, also in silver. ~kym
