Softly on a spring breeze . . .

There is something about a new gown from DESIR Haute Couture that inspires me to seek out a soft breeze along the coast! Vivien Emerald brings us yet another delicately flowing creation in her recently released Patrycja Gown and, once again the detail work is superb from the stand-up pleated collar, to the surprise cascade of orchids at the deeply cut back, and the layers of sheer silk in the full skirt. I chose the gold colour and accented it with the Pearly Shell Jewelry and Nail Ensemble from WTG Jewelry for the candlelight glow of an evening stroll through the birches, and down to the coast line. You will find your favorite among the other delicious pastels available.

On location, at home – The CascadesPerhaps, like me, you’ve always loved wearing a special red dress. Since childhood, when the Red Riding Hood story was a fashion influence, right until today, I think there has always been at least one red dress . . . maybe more . . . in my wardrobe. The Euridice gown from DESIR Haute Couture has definitely moved into a special place for me. Elegant and sensuously soft, it is just the perfect “all grownup” gown for the L’il Red in all of us! And I thought an “Into the Woods” setting might be just right for a shoot today. No Big Bad Wolves at Oubilette but, keep an eye out for that scary troll.

More gowns of Desir

When my friend Norma saw my photos of the Starline Gown; one of Vivien Emerald’s latest releases from Desir Haute Couture, she exclaimed, “O Kym, the stuff of my childhood dreams!” And, I would venture to guess that it may very well be the stuff of some “all-grown-up dreams” for many of us as well. Vivien continues to bring us the most exquisite designs. This gown really is worthy of some very close scrutiny. The complex swirls of the billowing silk are meticulously and symmetrically assembled to accentuate the pattern which is introduced as a theme on the corset top – a veritable visual symphony! You must experience the rhythmic flow of the gown to fully appreciate the complete design. While it is dramatically large, it moves with the gentle grace we have come to recognize as a characteristic of Desir gowns. I also found Belle Roussel’s recently released Tabula Rasa jewelry ensemble from Chop Zuey Couture Jewelry to be a delightful accent. I believe I would be wearing this gown for weeks . . . if I didn’t have a few more from Desir to unpack and shoot!

Next on my fave list from DESIR  is the January Group gift – a Winter Gown in glistening snow white satin embellished with cascading snowflakes on the cowl cape. It seemed just the ensemble for a formal winter affair at Takalo, a simply amazing sim, with more beautiful snow than I have found anywhere in SL. Yula Finesmith’s new Papiyon Ensemble, in platinum, added a matching touch of jewelry elegance. And, my little feathered escorts seemed pleased with my choices!

In the midst of the chill of the bleak mid-winter I find myself anticipating the coming of spring and all the blooms that accompany the reawakening of my mountains. I think Vivien must have had similar thoughts as she created two dazzling new gowns with warm floral motifs from Desir Haute Couture. The Rehana Wisteria, is simply fabulous. From the billowing lace underskirts, to the richly embroidered theme blooms and the warm color accents this gown whispers the news of coming warm breezes and morning garden freshness. I love the natural blues Vivien selected for this gown and was delighted to find a perfectly matching jewelry ensemble among the vivid colors of NES – Finesmith Jewelry’s very latest release.

Desir’s other new floral theme gown – the Sayoka –  captures Vivien’s enchantment with the delicate sakura flower blooms which she recently discovered. While the lines of this  figure-focused gown are truly dramatic enough to warrant attention, the incredible embroidery on the sheer deep cut back panel will certainly draw that second and third admiring look. The lovely hair flower and a matching ring are part of the Sayoka offering. I’ve added tosy Xue’s Magical Circle Earrings from WTG Jewelry and the bold red Dawn bracelets from Finesmith Jewelry for my shoot under the stars at the magical Tempura sim.

Christmastide in Paris, and the hunt is on!

Rose’s awesome designs from Paris Metro Couture just keep on coming! Her latest release includes a line of holiday gowns, which are all just beautiful. I selected the Red Velvet Romance Gown and Cape ensemble for the Annual Snow Ball. (Would you believe this incredible gown is actually a gift for the Womanstuff Hunt?!)  There is nothing like deep velvet to make you feel pampered and elegant, with just a touch of the softest fur trim at the bodice, and top of the long gloves. Once you arrive at the ball, and remove the cape, this gown is sensational from every angle. Rose’s meticulous details are even noticeable in the line of the deep cut back and the row of tiny buttons. Yula Finesmith’s “Let it Snow” jewelry is a perfect compliment for the holiday touch. I chose the gold for this look but, was tempted by the other textures as well – especially the platinum version. Interestingly, Rose has named her other holiday gown “Let it Snow!” and this jewelry set would also be perfect with that gown. We’ll have a look at this combination soon! Without a song . . .

One of the intriguing new offerings from the current L’Accessoires Collection is the Carina headpiece from SoliDea Folies. It is available in a variety of colours and I was particularly attracted to the flowing feathers. What better way to showcase such an original design than with Rogan Diesel’s latest pose prop — the Nighingale’s Sorrow, from DieselWorks. Two of the 15 great poses which are included with the prop are shown here. There is also a Nightingale’s Glee version of the cage prop in gold, which has sixteen poses which would have our l’il bird singing for joy again! Superb designs continue to flow from Rose’s creative studio at Paris Metro Couture — more than I can keep up with at the moment! But I especially wanted to share one of my favorites; the Elegant Long Sweater Dress. This has to be one of the best mesh designs I have found lately. Whether you are curled up by the fireplace, or strolling through your favorite mall, this NEW dress delightfully accents your every curve, and will keep you warm and cozy as those December winds begin to blow. O, and be sure to visit Chop Zuey while you are working your way through your Christmas shopping list. Belle has released some most lovely new sets, which will make great gifts, or perhaps additions to your own jewelry collection. I am wearing her Black Storm ensemble which includes both member and hunt gifts.

Paris in the Fall!

I know, I know . . . the song says Paris in the spring! But, you have to love the latest fall releases from Paris Metro Couture. Fantastic colours, elegant design and what a joy to wear clothes that fit so very well, and are so meticulously made. This “Sparkle My Mini” gown actually is based upon a sparkling little mini dress which certainly is a head-turner on its own but, I was so enchanted by the flowing long skirt and those incredible arm scarves that I just had to activate some of my favorite DieselWorks poses to capture the movement. And the fun is not just for the studio! The slightest breeze, or most graceful dance, sets these elements into soft movement. Her fresh wool and knit ensemble with scads of options which includes a snuggly suede Biker jacket, will have you ready for that coming chilly weather in style. I love the plaid mini skirt, and the Adventure boots were a bonus surprise which come with the ensemble. The detail work in the cable sweater and scarf really must be seen to be fully appreciated. Also, check out the “Fallen” Ensemble from Amorous Jewelry. I picked this set up at the October L’Accessoires sale but didn’t get back from travel in time to blog then. Both Amorous and L’Accessoires are so worth visits as you put together your fall and winter wardrobes.

And back we go to the ballroom! My first selfish thought when I saw this incredible Windswept Leaves Gown was, “I must get that styled and shot before Seq spots it!” (So sorry Sis!) I think Rose was really perceiving the fall breezes in her Paris Metro Couture design studio this season, and did such an amazing job of translating them into positively elegant gowns. I have already received the nicest compliments wearing this one to a dance evening. This latest jewelry ensemble – Circus Maximus – from Chop Zuey caught my eye right away, not only for its design, but it comes in Rose Gold, one of my most favorite RL jewelry choices. I think the colour is just perfect for fall, and Windswept Leaves.

Shall we dance?

The latest release from AlaFolie is the darling little Marilyn dress. Reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties flapper outfits, it will have you heading to the nearest vintage club for an evening of dancing and fun. But wait — haven’t we all been a trifle frustrated when we hit the dance floor in that great looking new mesh dress and as soon as we start to dance we expose those invisible bod parts that were vanished in the alpha mask? Pixivor Allen has figured a new technique for mesh designs that does not require using an alpha mask and, will allow you complete motion freedom with no exposure of those icky missing body sections! Yay Pixi!! I am sure we will see additional delightful designs from AlaFolie using this approach, but meanwhile I am thoroughly enjoying the Marilyn. I’d say more but I must run along to the club 🙂

From lace to jeans

Poulet Koenkamp, of PurpleMoon Creations, has just released this fresh little dress in a variety of tempting colors. The Blair is simply  a must have addition for your late summer – fall wardrobe. Whether you select one of the soft pastels, or the darker shades, you will find that this design is flexible enough to work as either a comfortable, trendy and feminine look for a day of shopping with the girls, as well as a dressy date night option.

I enjoyed discovering a new designer this week – Vendome Jewelry has recently opened, and offers some really unique pieces worthy of your consideration. I am wearing the Flora ensemble which includes earrings, bracelet, ring and a very interesting necklace. As you can see the necklace is not your typical chain or vine design but, looks very much like a gold ribbon collar. The workmanship on this set is exceptional, and i confidently predict we will be seeing a lot of Vendome Jewelry on the SL runways accenting the work of many haute designers.

Meiling goes to London! A Major Hit!

While we are huddled round our TV’s cheering on the gymnasts, swimmers, divers and all the other incredible athletes at the Summer Olympics there are other very noteworthy events happening in London. Today there was a showcase of a few specially handpicked Caribbean designers at the Olympics and SL’s own Meiling previewed her latest collection there in RL! Of course before Meiling became “SL’s own” she was a major star in the RL fashion galaxy. She has come to love Second Life and actually released the SL version of this new “24 Hours Collection” before she left for London! Previews of what has not even hit the big runways of RL; dont you just love SL! Here are a few of the delightful outfits that wowed the audience at the Olympic exhibit.

Beautifully executed in mesh, the stunningly colorful Harlequin gown will definitely be a standout ensemble at the `Fashion Engage’ Olympic Showcase and the season’s gala events in SL.

Meiling has a distinctively unique approach to utilizing unusual fabrics in unexpected combinations in her designs. Her new Moonglow Denim Skirt and Blouse ensemble shows that signature style beautifully. This outfit is available in both mesh and flexi skirt versions. Neferia Abel’s “Kahrine” — her latest 1930 inspired dress, reflects that refined styling of the era so very well with the tailored bodice tucks, box pleated skirt and detailed embroidery.

The “Nora” Dress, the newest addition to Ivalde’s extensive 1950’s Collection is already a hit among our Vintage Fashionistas, and may just prove to be even more popular than the recently retired “Sandy” poodle skirt. It’s all about lace and gathered chiffon and I knew right away that the violet pink color would be my personal favorite. I couldn’t help humming a few tunes from “Grease” as I matched up my kymmie shoes from Lindy in anticipation of a fun fifties evening at Runaround Sue’s.
